Don't get me wrong--I think CF would always benefit from skilled mediators, because even with a lot of the administrative overload of the old system gone, people will still clash and not get along and miscommunicate. But for people directly intended to work in the way the Ombudsman used to, there would be less of a need for offical appeals-helpers and witnesses, if the threads are all open.

This seems like a very positive step forward Erwin and you deserve a great round of thanks from everyone. This is the kind of witness of christianity we are always told to expect but rarely see in reality.

I hope and trust that all my non-christian (and now accepted-as-christian) fellows will act as courteously as possible and not abuse their newfound equality here at CF

As an aside, how do these changes affect things such as pro-choice ribbons in signatures? I did not see that specifically mentioned (I did catch the reference to allowing those in same-sex marriages to call themselves married. Thank you for that!) and i'm certain there are a variety of similar issues that are going to change. Thanks in advance for answering if you have the time to answer

I think that forcing unity this side of heaven where unity does not exist is a recipe for disaster. I have seen it in other forums. I hope I am wrong.
I just hope there isn't a mass exodus from CF because of the hard feelings that will no doubtedly result.

There will need to be good moderation. I'm sure more people will come to derail the Christian topic threads now.

Of course, there is already so much arguing within the Christian groups I doubt it will get much worse.

I would agree. It is well known that there is a good deal contained in the 'sooper seekrit' forums that is not just confidential but rather inflammatory towards individual members. With this new attitude I think a flushing of what went before and forgiveness from all for that might have been said behind closed doors is appropriate.

Of course, those of us who have sleep deprivation or who are on meds ... yes, we have foot in mouth syndrome.

Come to think of it, almost all of us viewing this new development at CF could probably use 10 hours of solid sleep.

Also those with dyslexia (mistyping key words) and those with autism or Asperger's have it rough too.

It would be best to hard delete all that gossip and rash judging which can and does go on behind those staff doors. And I call it gossip for a good reason.

I hope that Erwin will enable Admins to hard delete and dispose of all threads and posts that should not see the light of day again. People's lives can be absolutely ruined unless this is done. Porn especially can destroy people due to their addictions.
