  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A confession of sorts.

CHARLES! That's not what I meant at ALL! LOL. What I really meant is that everytime I read apost from you anymore, I completely completely agree with it, and I figure it's getting old for everyone to see me flapping my gums and saying "I Agree!" so... I thought I would make it easier and ust say -- "Hey, whatever Charles says, count me in, K?" "Let's just all get the point -- I agree with Charels"!!!!!!!! LOL ^_^

OHHHH! :D

Well thats almost a compliment aint it? And you should congradulate me. I have gone almost 24 hours without one of my thread being closed or deleted posts!!! :p

I think that it is wonderful that you are finding a resonance in my posts, because that means that perhaps the spirit is at work and keeping me on the path. Quaffer makes it easy because he is open to God and has a gentle spirit. Thank you Quaffer.

Can I ask a question Charles? How are women percieved in Messianic Judaism, and do they have a role in the ministry equal to men? I have never seen this discussed, so can you tell me what the view is?

A quick answer from my experience and beliefs as well, is that Women have the same level of authority as men, but do not share the same office. Ministers and shepherds are men, as practiced in Judaism and reaffirmed for the church in the Epistles. Sorry got to run and get my litle one in bed.

I believe I understand what you mean by "shepherd", but what do you mean by "Minister"?

For example, during the last festival of the booths, our church built a small sukkot. The meaning behind the building of a sukkot by a couple of chinese would probably be lost to most but what i can say is that to put it succinctly, it was an activity of deep significance. It is not the command to live in sukkot that is meaningful by the historical reason behind it and what the sukkot was suppose to remind God's people of.
But perhaps what was most fruitful from the experiance was that 2 jewish tourist who was walking by were shocked to see what looked like a succot in the middle of the grounds of a grand old anglican cathedral, naturally they came in out of curiosity. Cut the long story short, one of us who was there was able to preach to this old couple and was able to give them contacts to messianic jewish congregations in their home country.
God Bless

Thank you for sharing that Rooster, that is most wonderful news!!! Your Succah must have been pretty good for them to know what it was. Are you planning on building another one for this coming Sukkot?

Thank you for blessing me with your story!

Messimaniac <-- Very cool!

I remember a few years ago when we had a proffesor in
the Full Life Bible college resign in a huff be cause we were
becomming (too Jewish) He said he was tired of all the
Messianic Mayhem.

So for a very short period of time and basically for the requesting
the dean of the college made available the degree of
MoMM (Master of Messianic Mayhem)

You know Charles I will speak with Rabbi Mac and see if he would consider
bestowing that honorary degree to you so that you might have something to
put on the wall of your new church/synagouge/shul?

Blessings brother and I am so happy to see you back in the saddle again!

I meant them to be synomymus, snominus, uh, sunamimus,...Hmm... the same. :p

In the Jewish setting and in some Messianics as well there is no one person like the pastor who runs the whole church. It is a group of men, each with responsibilities and acountable to one another. So maybe Pastor would have been a better choice than minister?

One of the problems that we would have converting to Messianic for women is that women also have received the same gifts from God as the men have. I have been in the healing ministry for over 25 yrs. I know I have this gift, also the gift of discernment works in my life. So what are we to do with those gifts that God expects us to use, or we lose them do to doctrine? Won't God hold me responsible for what I have received? God has healed men and women in my ministry.

I've gone to a Messianic congregation where the Rabbis wife ministers in that way. She's not the Rabbi though. I think that would be the difference maybe?

Hey Trish,

I don't believe that we women must lay aside our gifting/callings in order to be Messianic, and I hope that you get just a flood of responses telling you the same thing. Dh and I have taken numerous motivational (spiritual) gifts inventories over the years, and I come out strongly prophetic (perceiver), teaching and discernment, and then exhorter. And my giftings perfectly complement my DH's; we have worked hand in hand in ministry for 15 years.

That said, I was seriously wounded by a "prophet" about 8 years ago, which has made me very leery of the prophetic overall... yet I can say that it has been since our coming into Messianicism that the Lord has been working more and more in my heart to bring me back to a place of trust and willingness to operate in the prophetic again, myself.

I *do* believe in doing all things within the context of order and authority... however, I don't see this as preventing anyone from working within, and stepping out in, their calling. But since I am not priviledged to be in a Messianic community/congregation at this time, I await the answers of the other MJ's on this, as they will know far more... I'm curious too.

Thank you Zimirah I really appreciate your post. I also will wait until I hear from other MJ's on this. I really have decided to fully explore what Messianics do believe as far as women in the church. Since I am one, lol. I am able to work freely in my church, and women and men do work together, and are accepting of each other wholeheartedly. And it's all done in order.
