So your knowing about a level Earth is separate from one's knowledge of God?It's not a matter of believing it is a matter of knowing.
So your knowing about a level Earth is separate from one's knowledge of God?
So you are basing your conclusion about the levelitity of the Earth on what you think the Bible says and you also (presumably) believe that the Bible is the word of God and that this supersedes the authority of empirical evidence?
So what do you say to fellow Christians who deride your position on Earth levelivity?
Sure you did.I did, sorry I deleted it by mistake.
The first thing I would point out is that I believe Genesis, so why should I want to show the sun was created before the earth? It wasn't.-From The Bible can you show where The sun is considered a stars and stars are considered suns. Can you show where planets were created in Genesis chapter 1. Can you show where the sun, moon and stars were placed in an outer space thousands to millions and billions of miles and light years away from earth. Can you show where the sun is a fire ball that was created to light up a solar system, Or show where the earth is in motion.
Can you show the sun was created before the earth. All of the above about God's creation does not agree with what science states is the way everything came about.
Can you show me where any part of God's creation that is described in The Bible agrees with anything science states about God's creation.
Well, I believe the earth to be a globe, AND I fully believe what Genesis and indeed the whole bible teaches about God's Creation.-No not saying that at all. They just can not say they believe in the creation that is described in The Bible.
The first thing I would point out is that I believe Genesis, so why should I want to show the sun was created before the earth? It wasn't.
The bible doesn't say that the sun is a star, nor does it tell us the distance of sun moon and stars from the earth. As for the planets, the very word "planet" comes from words meaning "wandering star", so I take the planets to be included in that wonderful phrase, "He made the stars also."
As for things about Creation where modern science agrees with what the bible says, two very simple examples would be that the sun does indeed give light to the earth, and scientists would agree that plants contain seeds that grow into the same sort of plants, so acorns always grow into oak trees, not maples, carrot seeds always grow into carrots, not cabbages, and so on. As the bible says:
“Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb [that] yields seed, [and] the fruit tree [that] yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed [is] in itself, on the earth"; and it was so.” (Ge 1:11 NKJV)
It's worth remembering that there are scientists who fully believe in God as Creator and in the Genesis description of that creation.
Sorry, but I didn't mention Jude, so I don't understand why you have replied like that. The only connection I can see is that my post included the phrase "wandering stars" and so does Jude. However, I only said that our English word "planet" is derived from the Greek for "wandering star". I apologise if I wasn't clear enough, and caused you to imagine I was quoting Jude.-Jude is not even talking about stars. It can be plainly seen in the context the wandering stars are referring to angels. Why would stars. which are created lights to give light to the earth (along with the moon) at night.
Why would stars be whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. It is angels who sinned, not stars And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;
This is exactly what i am addressing, science causes you to no even understand what Jude is addressing in his letter.
Well, I believe the earth to be a globe
You laugh at the simplest and working concepts every child can explain and understand, while you are unable to explain anything meaningful with your fantasy flat earth.A Globe that spins & turns in order to receive it's light from the sun, lol's.
That's right. If the earth were a flat disc, it would be daytime at the same time everywhere on the earth. However, when it is night in Wales where you are, it is daytime in Australia. Have you ever heard a UK news presenter say to someone in the USA, "Well, although it's early morning here, I know it's the middle of the night where you are, so thanks for staying up to speak to us."A Globe that spins & turns in order to receive it's light from the sun, lol's.

I take stars to include the planets or "wandering stars".-But the creation account is in Genesis 1. So how do you arrive at God creating planets in Genesis 1 when the only heavenly bodies created are the sun, moon and stars.
The idea that planets exist only come from science. Paul does not even mention planets in 1 Corinthians
There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
So why add the idea into God's creation that God created a heavenly body called a planet. When there is absolutely no evidence from The Bible that God created planets.
The computer and Internet you are using to post on this forum only comes from science. The idea that planets exist only come from science.
There is no bible verse that says planets/wandering stars are included with the other stars, That's why I started my message, "I take stars to include..." not "The bible says stars include...."-Again from The Bible where do you get this.
That's right. If the earth were a flat disc, it would be daytime at the same time everywhere on the earth.
But whether the sun moves or the earth, if the earth is flat, and the sun rises over it, then the whole of the earth will be light at the same time. The fact that half of the earth is in darkness while the other half is light points to the earth being a globe. No it wouldn't, as the the sun traverses the sky, rises & sets, this is what gives us our light, days & seasons.
The earth doesn't move, it is the sun.
But whether the sun moves or the earth, if the earth is flat, and the sun rises over it, then the whole of the earth will be light at the same time.
