.......that's the lacking assurance I was referring to.
So, mkgal, are yours or any Christians sins, conscious or inadvertent, pardoned before, during or after they occur?
Isn't it plain to you that Hebrews 8:12 is in the context of a future fulfillment , a yet to happen Promise of God?
Sin was pardoned on the Cross. That's not a future event we need to anticipate. As Jesus said, "It is finished".
N.T. Wright presented what I believe is a wonderful overview of the Healing Streams of the New Covenant. On the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles.....recorded in John 7....Jesus quoted Isaiah 55:
John 7:37-39
37On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’ ” 39He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given,e because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
Isaiah 55:1-4
1“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you without money,
come, buy, and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost!
2Why spend money on that which is not bread,
and your labor on that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of foods.
3Incline your ear and come to Me;
listen, so that your soul may live.
I will make with you an everlasting covenant—
My loving devotion promised to David.a4Behold, I have made him a witness to the nations
Deuteronomy 30:4
Even if you have been banished to the farthest horizon, He will gather you and return you from there.
