  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I knew going in that this wasn't going to be accurate at all, since it was based on a comic book which was based on a movie which was sort of based on history. I enjoyed it for what it was and I'd say overall, it was a good movie. It doesn't feed the mind, but it's got balls. Anybody who doesn't like that doesn't have to. They can go back to their fireplaces and sip some more tea. I do think that historical accuracy would have made it kick a LOT more butt though.

Also, last I checked, Persians (Iranians) tend to be lighter skinned that Greeks and other Mediterranean peoples and didn't have piercing/tattoo shops on every street corner, nor are they a race of tranvestites.
Yeah, I counted only a handful that I could possibly mistake for a real Persian (Iranian).

The action was boring. Ever since the Matrix, Hollywood seems bent on making EVERY action sequence in EVERY movie in SLOW MOTION. Practically the whole film was in slow motion. If they played the movie back at normal speed, it would be about 20 minutes long. Half of what is supposed to make an action flick exciting is the fact that there is so much happening so fast. Seriously, can we go back to making fast paced action flicks? The slo-mo thing is just plain boring-- I spent most of the movie trying to find the Fast-forward button on my armrest.
I enjoyed the action for what it was, but it did bug me a bit that Leonidas emphasized the importance of the phalanx and in battle they broke rank all the time just for the sake of some cool action shots.

And then my biggest gripe: the blatant injection of American politics into the movie. "Remember the 300!!! We can win this war, if all of Sparta (America??) would come together as one and support the troops..."
I liked that aspect of it. There have been so many movies over the last few years that have had undertones of the opposite message.

Sounds disgusting! Thanks for the description,I most certainly will not watch this garbage!  :o
The nudity is tasteful and the rape is short and not graphic at all (which I still didn't enjoy in the least, but it did serve to show what a villain Theron was). I didn't really enjoy the sex scene that much.

I loved the film. Had some problems with them talking about fighting in phalanx, then break formation a few minutes into the fight. Plus their spears where just to short for a phalanx.

The gore was not as bad as I thought it would be (one can only see a beheading or dismemberment so many times) and the sex was tasteful. Definitely an R movie, but a glorious one.
