I would recommend Troy only for the battle scenes.
Otherwise it is a rather dull film with most of the main actors horribly miscast into their roles.

I thought the battle scenes were VERY well done. Not -overly- gorey... but very detailed. The battle formations were realistics. Fight scenes were actually logical. In the former "300 spartans" movie... good lord.... horrible fight scenes... people threw spears that were hitting people side ways... aweful.

New 300 movie was very dramatically done. I liked it.

Actually, it was historically pretty accurate. I mean... the big dude probably wasn't that freaky. But the immortals were actually a real troupe that had that reputation on the battlefield.

Exaggerated, of course... those elephants were stupidly big... but the basic story was pretty good, from what I've seen.

300 shares obvious comparisons with Gideon in the Bible. Unlike Leonidas, Gideon was a coward, stripped of any sort of dignity by his own fears. However, even though he was of high school locker room attack material, God still used him.
