Republican state senator and gubernatorial hopeful Scott Wagner is taking some serious flak after suggesting that heat from human bodies causes global warming – and that we’re moving closer to the sun.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that during an interview earlier this week with WITF radio in Harrisburg, Wagner (who supports natural gas drilling on state land), said he hasn’t “been in a science class in a long time, but the earth moves closer to the sun every year — you know, the rotation of the earth … We’re moving closer to the sun.”

We could lance the headline "Republicans promote reduction of humans to combat Global Warming!"... and could point out in the article that this would have the benefit of making the planet lighter, thus increasing the orbit.

On behalf of all non-Americans on the planet, I request that you guys get sorted out on the climate change thing. Believing that the earth is 6000 years old, while clearly untrue, is perhaps harmless. Denying climate change, on the other hand, could be catastrophic. No intent to impugn the millions and millions of Americans who are onside with the need to deal with global warming. And there are certainly deniers outside the USA as well.
