  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Profane to Divine: Does God Drag You Through the Church Doors—or Do You Drag Your Feet?

Brothers and sisters in Christ, Picture this: Six days drowning in the profane—work, worries, world. Then Sunday dawns, and God Himself yanks you across the threshold into the divine sanctuary. One shepherd nailed it: “We move from the profane into the divine.” But here’s the rub: It’s not...

Was Ignatius' claim that Christians didn't keep the Sabbath correctly translated?

Hello! According to this Sabbatarian source, Ignatius' statement, normally translated thus, is incorrect (emphasis mine): If then those who had walked in ancient prac- tices attained unto newness of hope, no longer observing sabbaths but fashioning their lives after the Lord's day, on which our...

Did the early church teach that Christians should keep the Sabbath (i.e., Saturday)?

Hello! This could be a "church fathers" thread, but since a similar one I did before was moved, I'll just post here. The following article claims that Theophilus (Patriarch of Antioch from 169 to 182) taught that Christians must keep the Sabbath: Theophilus of Antioch – 160-180s AD The main...

Is the Lord's Day Saturday according to Acts of John (Apocryphal)?

Hello! The other day, I was discussing Sabbatarianism on a thread, and @Torah Keeper said that the Acts of John (Apocryphal) supports the view that the Lord's Day is Saturday. Here's the text in question: And on the seventh day, it being the Lord's day, he said to them: Now it is time for me...

"The seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD (YHWH)" Ex 20:10

Ok so almost everyone knows that "The seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD (YHWH)" Ex 20:10 ======================= Questions 1. Can it be edited to point to "week day 1" instead? Some/many would say "no", and that no one can edit God's Law. 2. Can the "Holy day of the Lord" be the...

    The Lord's Day is Sunday.

The Lord's Day is Sunday: Revelation 1:10 mentions the “Lord's day.” “I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, ...” (Revelation 1:10). Some believe this day to be Sunday, and others believe this day to be Saturday (i.e. the Saturday Sabbath, or the seventh day [last day] of the week). Let's...

Is a Christian really subject to the OT Law?

I John 4 11 Dear friends, if this is how God loved us, then we should love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in union with us, and his love is made perfect in us. 13 We are sure that we live in union with God and that he lives in union with us...

    The Lord's Day

John said, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet" (Revelation 1:10, NKJV). Mainstream Christianity argues that John, in speaking of "the Lord's Day," was referring to "Sunday"— the first day of the week. Question: What biblical proof is...
