Prominent Catholic theologian Ralph Martin says Detroit’s new archbishop told him he fired him from the archdiocese’s seminary faculty over undefined “concerns about my theological perspectives.”

Martin, 82, who had taught at Sacred Heart Major Seminary since 2002, said Archbishop Edward Weisenburger told him Wednesday he “was terminating my position at the seminary effective immediately.”

This is a travesty. This Martin is the faithful Martin, Ralph Martin. In the meantime, that other Martin, the LGBTQSJ, continues to enjoy favor. This is very upside down.

There was a statement in the article that went like this:

Is the Archbishop implying that Ralph Martin did not accept Francis as Pope?

I'm not trying to make this about myself, but I remember a temp assignment that I got 10 years ago. The third day into it, I was let go and no one would provide an explanation as to why. I don't understand it. I'm let go and they won't tell me why. I do suspect that the person who gave me a tour of the place that I was supposed to do my work had backstabbed me because on the first day, she misunderstood something about my then-resume. I say this because she was nice on the first day and then never spoke to me or even looked at me again even though she was literally two cubicles away. She seemed to become avoidant. I find it hard to forgive her right now. I'm feeling bitter as I type FWIW I did not like the job and it made me depressed because I didn't like the work environment, but that does not mean that I wanted to be backstabbed either.

And now we are told that Ed Peters, noted canon lawyer, also at the Detroit Sacred Heart Seminary, also got the axe. Wondering if anyone else will be getting the axe in Detroit. How much blood does this new archbishop think he needs to let to achieve his goals? Was he hired on in Detroit to do the bidding of pope Francis come hell or high water? Does pope Leo approve or disapprove or even know?
