Objective science is not 'the word'.
It's not the be all end all to life either, Ever hear of socializing and moral goodness and helping others and being kind? There's a lot more to life then just science.

If you are a true skeptic then you wouldn't have made up your mind already about something which many of you have.
I'm a skeptic. I'm here to learn and understand how other people feel about various topics. Personally, I would never try to dissuade people from their religions. However, I do occasionally feel inclined to correct misinterpretations and misrepresentations of science, or to point out logical contradictions in positions. The better we all understand the science, the better our arguments become.

Although I have an excessively open mind, I find the flat Earth idea to be... a bit unlikely. I have a background in the satellite industry, so I have firsthand familiarity with the shape of the Earth. Now, my experiences could be unreal, just like the universe could have been created a few minutes ago and my memories could have been faked, but I consider my experiences to likely be genuine. When discussing the matter with someone who religiously believes the world to be flat, I have no intention of attacking their religion, I'm just pointing out that their interpretations of certain passages in the Bible may be flawed.

I'm mad about how you guys treated me and mad that you just refuse to be kinder and more tolerant to others. It's just not right and I'm calling some of you out for it because someone needs to.
OK now that you have turned this thread into a platform for expressing one's personal grievances, lets get back on topic do you think the earth is flat?
I happen to be one of the biggest critics of pseudoscience on this site and my post#723 which in no way is meant to be disrespectful highlights one of the many problems of a flat earth.
Unfortunately a common counterargument thrown up by flat earthers is not to address the problems but rely on conspiracy theories.

So what you are saying is because you hold science in such as grand regard that anyone who does anything to touch the precious treasure trove or tamper with it is a piece of crap person?
Nobody said that. These pseudoscientific ideas are damaging, so they should be countered with ideas that better match the evidence and reality.

Well then congratulate yourself, you should feel proud you don't fall into the massive category of meanspirited skeptics who reside on this platform and I mean that with sincerity. I commend you stay blessed and keep shining Brother.

Why are Athiest on a Christian Forum to begin with not all athiest but a large portion are so conniving rude and miserable people. Why come on this platform to debate people and spread negativity. Or do you congregate here to just be disagreeable and give each other a good old pat on the back? What does it do for you really to be a miserable skeptic and bash Christianity?
I welcome atheists giving their input. Maybe some are posting just to take potshots at Christianity, but others have valid points to make, particularly as regards flat earth belief. This belief has nothing to do with Christianity. It has nothing to do with God's plan of salvation & is based on controversial interpretations of Scripture.

So what you are saying is because you hold science in such as grand regard that anyone who does anything to touch the precious treasure trove or tamper with it is a piece of crap person? Should not see the light of day? Science is not the holy grail it's just a way to analyze the natural world. If people find parallels between science and religion or can link the two together somehow let them. You may not agree with it but at the end of the day that's their business not yours. They very often do a disservice to no one so I don't see the issue.
Integrity is a value I hold in the highest regard.
If someone willingly advocates for perpetual ignorance, by way of denying objective evidence and supplanting it with their own beliefs, which they themselves hold as being real, in any public Physical & Life Sciences forum, it represents a violation of integrity and intellectual honesty.

To any Athiest and skeptics do you really want to be associated as being a group of hateful trolls. Why not be less rude and mean in your interactions in order to give a better reputation to the community? Would that not be a better way of spreading the word and trying to enlighten others?
You must have a massive investment in that
essay you wrote, to generate such an intensely
emotional response to the comments you got..

If you expected those educated in science to say
it's brilliant, lovely, well, you were doomed to disapointment.

Because it really wasn't very good.

All criticism you got was accurate.
Some was stated bluntly.
None was mean spirited .

Your name calling and the rest of the ( bigotrd) invective
Isn't remotely called for. You ftm were quite rude to all
who offered comments. Nobody is mad at you though.
You gotta float above such pettiness.

We suggest you calm down some. Learn to accept
disagreement and criticism. Your writing was no good.
Learn from it and move on.

Any critivism you get from the atheists here may be rough,
but it will never be unfair, false, or hateful.

Stick, around, seek to adapt, see what you can learn.

I am socialising here .. and moral goodness is not the domain of any one social club, or religious dominion.

I also want to hear any FE believers address the equatorial mount. I've yet to see anything which can be regarded as clear & rational explaining how it could work on a flat earth.

What's damaging about them I can understand some to be damaging but there are many that do not have affects on the fabrics of our society. And I think the main issue is more so not the counter arguments presented by the skeptic community in and of itself but how skeptics are so often ruthless and brutal about how they deliver said information and you know what I'm going to include an example of how I view skeptics who take this route(with the intention of including comedic relief). Ever heard of Rob Curran from The I Hate Barney Secret Society, well google that guy.

I'm not trying to generalize but I think the community would benefit as a whole from eradicating people who identify as skeptics but in reality are ,hateful, spiteful trolls with the main agenda of antagonizing and hurting people. Just a suggestion here a Strong suggestion. Same goes for the athiest community otherwise you guys will be making a lot of enemies and it won't be good for your cause which seems to be educating people and dispelling myths. Please take note, thanks and don't ever spread your negativity on my posts again otherwise I will lose it because I can no longer tolerate this crap. If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.

I don't give a crap stop being angry trolls and ruining this platform with negativity. You can present your ideas without being a jerk it isn't difficult.
Perhaps you could try not being a jerk yourself.

Respectfully, I think that is something you should take up with the moderators, not take up this thread with comments that derail it.

Or he could simply make use of the "ignore" feature of the forums.

But someone who starts to learn how to critically examine a claim may use those tools may start to apply these new better thinking habits in other areas of life. Ones where it really may have a damaging effect on society or themselves. And those watching in the wings can also start to make analogies. "Gee, these flat earth supporters seem to be really big on not answering questions and telling people to watch videos. That reminds me of the politics thread on the Biden Family Crimes. Nobody seems to be able to answer the question of what crime Joe Biden committed, but they keep telling us to watch a video of 3 hours of Congressional testimony."

Ever heard of Rob Curran from The I Hate Barney Secret Society,
Nope. Does he post here?
