  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

WASHINGTON — Special counsel Robert Hur has declined to prosecute President Joe Biden for his handling of classified documents but said in a report released Thursday that Biden’s practices “present serious risks to national security” and added that part of the reason he wouldn't charge Biden was that the president could portray himself as an "elderly man with a poor memory" who would be sympathetic to a jury.

This couldn't be admitted unless he is in the process of being removed, I would think. The prosecutor pretty much said he is incompetent and a danger to us all.

"elderly man with a poor memory"

Of course he is.

OTH, these are events that occurred several years ago so even a fifty something person with good memory may not remember specific details.

I do think the mention of his son's death was simply rude.

I agree, mentioning the death of his son is uncalled for, but how could a fifty something year old with good memory forget that detail? That's major.

I was refering to the details of notes/notebooks BIden kept, not the death of his son.

Not exactly the kind of 'fact' one would hope for in such a report.

But it seems clear Hur was playing to a general audience, not just the DOJ.
It’s not his job to make such a finding. It’s like Comey saying no prosecutor would bring charges against Hillary.

This is another case of the double standard in justice in this country, the extreme twisting of the law in for political purposes. It is NOT the job of a prosecutor to decide which juries might be sympathetic toward an individual or determine the current mental state of an individual. Joe clearly and criminally distributed classified information, and some of that at a time when he saw that a prosecutor was fired in order to benefit his son's company. Joe was mentally competent at the time he committed the crimes and his mental state today SHOULD have no bearing on being charged with those crimes. Whether he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt is up to a JURY. (By the way, how he was able to filch the classified documents as a senator also needs further pursuit.) If a judge has sufficient evidence the judge may order a competency examination of Joe to see whether he can stand trial, but THAT IS UP TO A JUDGE. These people are making a mockery of the laws of our country, doling out special favors as they please and improperly going after those who don't support Democrats. All charges against Trump should be dropped, if the excuse someone is too old and thus not mentally competent can be used for Joe, it can be used for Trump. The major media has said Trump is mentally not competent, so of course the ethical thing for them to do is to demand all charges be dropped against Trump. What are the chances?

This is scary, but I do not want a President Harris, either.
Simple:

1. Impeach Harris.
2. Choose another VP.
3. Have Biden step down under the 25th Amendment.
4. Make the new VP president.
5. That new VP runs as the Democrat candidate in the 2024 election.

Or:

1. Impeach Harris.
2. Have Biden step down under the 25th Amendment before choosing a new VP.
3. Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, becomes the new president.
4. Johnson runs as the Republican candidate in the 2024 election.

Or is it simply inconvenient? Biden has twice within a week's time claimed to have talked with a world leader who was dead:

Forgetting his son's death is exactly the sort of thing that happened with a person I know who has been diagnosed with dementia. For a short period, this person forgot both her sons were dead, and mentally returned to a point when they still alive.

Like it or not, Biden is showing signs of dementia.

It was used for ex-cardinal McCarrick, abuser extraordinaire once friend of pope Francis, who got away with it. Apparently he could no longer comprehend what he did nor participate in his own defense. But that was up to a judge in MA IIRC.

He allegedly could not recall when his son died....not that he did die.
And I stand by my comment. It was rude, inappropriate and disrespectful to include that detail in the report.
There are plenty of other ways the special counsel could make his point regarding Biden's failing memory.
