Eating bugs is disgusting. I know some places love them and eat a lot of them, like Thailand. But that's a big no thanks to me. Give me a good steak, pork or chicken any day over a nice tasty grasshopper or scorpion.

I'm not eating bugs to save the planet as some want us to do. It's not going to make any difference.

But hey why don't we add bugs to the Snap and WIC programs and allow them to as many of them as they wish. That might help them get their meat and proteins, help save the planet and make bug eating more acceptable.

Given the amount of resources it takes to produce meat (especially beef), you’re probably wrong about it not making a difference.

I don't believe so. But if it helps we can add bugs to the snap and wic diets and allow them to purchase as many bugs as they want. It might actually assist in making bugs more acceptable as food. Especially if they grow up eating them.

This reminds me of the WEF trying to get people to eat bugs. Humans are meant to eat meat.
John the Baptist ate bugs, and he was human. Bugs contain meat on the inside. If one didn't eat the outside one couldn't tell the difference between bug meat and mammal meat . They wouldn't be crunchy though, would they?

The bill restricts using SNAP to buy meat, etc. It doesn’t restrict SNAP users from buying meat with their own money, however.

Okay, so there are restrictions on the use of snap, which prevents people from using snap to purchase healthy food like meats and cheeses.

SNAP is supposed to be a program that helps keep the most impoverished among us (wealthiest nation on earth and all) from being malnourished, and from the various preventable illnesses associated with malnutrition.

When you determine that malnutrition is cool and snap can't be used to stave off said malnutrition you may as well not have the program.

Me personally? Stop sending pallets of cash and weapons to our enemies and take care of our own citizens instead.

Seriously? You can’t eat healthy unless you use government money to buy meat and cheese?

I am disabled and in disability I receive less than $1,200.00 per month.

That money pays rent, utilities, gas and vehicle upkeep so that I can get to my doctors appointments and the store and I also purchase various toiletries etc.

There's not enough money for all of it and to eat too. So, the government gives me (charitably) 194.00 per month in food stamps which can only be used for food.

So yes... Without assistance I cannot buy enough food to survive, let alone have meat and cheese.

And I am actually physically disabled and am unable to work. Without help I would have died long ago.

P S. My heating bill for the house was over 500 dollars this month.

So before you judge, just remember that I have no ability to change my situation, and I'm not alone.

I was only 30 years old when I was injured - that wasn't enough time for me to plan for my disability and be sufficient without help. What I did have when I was first disabled I lost because of being disabled and being unable to sustain any of it. (I literally lost the farm).

Let’s say that you didn’t buy meat and cheese. Would your money go further?

And what about your church? How are they helping?

Church helps more with physical needs, doing things for me we can't do (mow the lawn etc) family is helping us with the electric bill this month...

No meat or cheese we'd be surviving on beans and rice (which we still have to do plenty of even now, 194 dollars doesn't go far for two people so I buy beans and rice in bulk and we eat that often), bread and pasta.

But at least now on top of beans and rice we can have soup with ground beef in it or the occasional casserole or pork chop.

I also make all of our bread from scratch (too expensive to buy decent bread so I make it) for things like grilled cheese at lunch etc or the odd sandwich..

Under this proposal people wouldn't be allowed to buy flour to make their own bread either like I do.

The more and more I see the things Republicans are doing or proposing, the more I see myself never voting for another Republican again.

My grandparents were Democrats and always said the only party to vote for was Democrat. I am starting to see the wisdom in that.

The Democrats are worse, just in different ways - my personal opinion of course.

But Donald Trump was a wake up call from the Republican electorate to the Republican establishment to start listening to the electorate and in actual action do what's best for America.

If they don't take that for what it is - I'll vote for every single communist Democrat that runs. Better the country tanks faster than slower. We either stop acquiescing or we lose our nation, it's as simple as that.

If all they are going to do in Washington is position themselves to be on top of the food chain after the great reset we need not one of them.

Humans are omnivores, and omnivores eat meat.

Insects are not meant to be consumed by humans.
Lev. 11:22

The Bible says that “locusts” are kosher.
Maybe God Moses got that one wrong?

  • Iowa Republicans proposed a bill that would drastically limit what foods SNAP recipients can buy.
  • People wouldn't be able to buy grocery staples like white bread, American cheese, fresh meat, and more.
  • Critics argue the bill would further burden low-income people who are already food-insecure.
Iowa Republicans are proposing sweeping changes to the state's food assistance program — including banning beneficiaries from buying grocery staples like meat, American cheese, or flour.

A bill co-sponsored by 39 Republican state legislators would limit those getting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to buying food on a more restrictive list from a separate program intended for pregnant women and children.

SNAP recipients wouldn't be able to buy a variety of foods, including white grain bread, buns with added nuts or seeds, white rice, pasta sauce, canned fruits or soups, baked beans, cheese slices, butter, or flour.

They would instead be limited to foods approved for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

The foods people can purchase in the WIC program are much more restrictive than those allowed in SNAP. That's because WIC is designed to complement SNAP, and is meant to provide necessary nutrition specifically for — as the name suggests — pregnant women, new mothers, and infants, according to Michelle Book, the president and CEO of Food Bank of Iowa.

Story continues @Link below.

The links are no longer available - including the one from MSN and the food approved list - is there any proof this is actually happening?

any clue as to where it speaks of restricting the purchase of meat?
If you read the bill, the paragraph that starts on page 11, line 33 talks about getting a waiver from the federal government to only allow foods that are on WICs supplemental list. They quote the law for WIC there 7 C.F.R. §246.2.

Here is a link to 7 C.F.R. §246.2 where WIC is laid out Federal Register :: Request Access
If you go to 246.10.e.12 it lists the supplemental foods and canned fish is the only meat on there.

90% of the bill has to do with WIC - you want to feed an infant steak?

Good grief - look at the charts.

Supplemental: def Added to supply what is wanted; additional; being, or serving as, a supplement.

another much ado about nothing....

Snap is NOT meant to buy all your groceries. Not should it. We don't live in Mexico where there are no jobs and no other sources of income. People in America are not impoverished.

That being said I think people ought to be able to at least buy chicken and hamburger on Snap.

And buy the way they CAN buy cheese. Just not the American processes kind.

Have you looked around? No one is malnourished in America unless they choose to be. Quit making it sound like we have thousands of people living in the garbage dumps like Mexico.

Sheesh.

Buy the way this does not apply to people who are totally disabled. There are those who are physically unable to work at all. In those cases, which aren't very many, we should be doing all we can to assist them. Sometimes they can't help it.
