In regards to CRT it isn't really all that bad because the people with their knickers in a twist don't even really come across as particularly high functioning adults. It is, however, annoying to hear people fight so hard against self-examination. But it's nothing new. We've seen the willfully blind decrying the light forever.

Your opinion of people who's children are being taught they are inferior/oppressors because of the color of their skin is an example of how school board members view the members of the public that don't agree with them.

Sometimes it's OK to call out someone's ignorance. Just because someone is ignorant doesn't always mean they are right. (GOP campaigning notwithstanding)

And yet, here in America we have plenty of people making it out as if the country is one big racist institution and that we're the worst place on Earth as a result.
See. Nobody is saying that.

The problem is that you are taking this critique about something you love and inflating it instead of just listening to their experience and just saying, "I understand. I see."

Do you believe the father who confronted a school board about how his daughter had been raped by a transsexual is ignorant?

It's not enough but you and other can't even manage THAT!!
What should they do instead if they aren't even worth being acknowledged?

Fine, I'll say "I understand. I see."
But as you quickly pointed out, it's not enough. Now I'm supposed to hang my head in shame for being white, and even view myself as an oppressor based on my skin color. Sorry, but that's not going to happen. If you wish to do that, and hope that such virtue signaling will satisfy the Marxist ideology of those pushing the who CRT nonsense, then give it a try and hope for the best.

Those who are into the whole LBTG thing are almost the same group as the CRT crowd, and both are issues causing parents to speak out at those school board meetings because of the way their children are being affected.

I'm a bit disturbed by the comparison between CRT and God's grace and salvation from sin. As a Christ follower, I believe that we are responsible for our own sins and not also for the generational sins of our fathers and forefathers. Even previous to the new covenant of Christ we had "Parents shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their parents; only for their own crimes may persons be put to death." from Deuteronomy 24:16.

How many people TODAY are slave owners? How many people TODAY are under the oppression of slavery?

There is no reason for anyone to need to apologize or repent for something someone else did.

Every human being has experienced some advantage at some time in their life because of other people. No one is self-made. Do some people have more advantages and others fewer? Yes, but it is not necessarily the "fault" of either and it is not necessarily and excuse for people to perpetually victimize themselves and pretend that they have none whatsoever, no opportunities, and no means of rising above whatever life situation they are in.

As a woman, I've experienced sexism in employment and other areas of life (and even here on CF :) ) but just because I am sometimes disadvantaged, I don't allow it to prevent me from moving on in my life and pursuing the things I want to do. I don't WANT to be a victim of anything and so I choose not to live my life as a victim even if I acknowledge there are still problems to solve. But I'm not under any kind of illusion that the random man I meet off the street is an oppressor and needs to render me an apology not only for being a man himself, but for everything evil that men (of all races and cultures) have done to women since the beginning of humanity. That's just ridiculous and its a way of thinking that always assumes that men are superior, and I REJECT that way of thinking.

It would really help if you could just stop lumping all the things that scare you into one bucket.

I think America's children can handle learning about our country's race history.

As for the whole trans rape thing I have no idea what you are talking about or the story itself. Given that I am unaware of ANY legitimate study showing rape to be more common among the trans community I'll take a pass on going into the weeds with you on that one.

Now I'm supposed to hang my head in shame for being white, and even view myself as an oppressor based on my skin color.

Actually what you are supposed to do is:

1. Acknowledge that racism has been (and continues to be a problem) in the US. Sure it's gotten better but we still have a ways to go.

2. Acknowledge that maybe, just MAYBE some things you got or advantages you enjoy were undeserved and might have been the product of the systemic racism that still exists in America and that with this knowledge you will be able to ensure that benefits are more well distributed when you are able to make a change.

If you wish to do that, and hope that such virtue signaling will satisfy the Marxist ideology of those pushing the who CRT nonsense

Or maybe you could just stop demonizing something you don't like with made-up accusations of "Marxism" or whatever scary word you can dredge up from a junior high education.

Calling all white people oppressors isn't useful, and there's no reason schools should do it or allow it. But there are widespread stereotypes, and non-white in many areas do experience problems. Schools (particularly high schools) should talk about that.

Laws such as the one proposed here suggest that some people are using the first as an excuse to avoid talking about the second.

...because you are able to identify everyone else's stupidity?

I wouldn't say everyone's....

Generally speaking though, I try to grind down social and political concepts to their most basic or axiomatic foundations and go on from there.

Whenever I do this with the modern left's concepts or beliefs...I run into a lot of ideas that are either not very smart or downright dangerous.

Is that your superpower?

No....clearly my superpower is patience. There's an abundance of posters on here who claim to be rational or "follow the evidence" but they only do so when it supports their conclusions.

I've seen them outright admit they don't want to consider evidence that doesn't support their conclusions.

I bet you do! Thankfully your friends on the Right never have dangerous or "stupid" ideas. (You probably SHOULD become a Conservative given your penchant to find errors on the Left so much!)

No....clearly my superpower is patience. There's an abundance of posters on here who claim to be rational or "follow the evidence" but they only do so when it supports their conclusions.

You should definitely let them know you are able to see their errors. It will engender a sense of trust.

I've seen them outright admit they don't want to consider evidence that doesn't support their conclusions.

Thankfully that never happens on the Right!

But either way, thanks for being here to keep all the loons from taking over. I know I'm personally glad to have made your acquaintance so that I might know my own shortcomings!

Once #2 is done, then you'd expect me to somehow "make it right" by giving up something I have (my home perhaps?) because I have it and a black guy doesn't. Sorry, but that ain't the way life works.

What makes you think I made it up?

Not necessarily. Just hopefully you'll pay it forward and when in a position to make a fair choice between two people you won't "default" to giving an advantage to someone who "looks like you" because it is comfortable.

Don't worry, no one wants you to be treated like black people have been treated in this country for the last several hundred years.

Actually that's wrong. That is exactly how life often works here in the US (for people of color and indigenous people).

Does that mean I won't be judged as an oppressor, or assumed that I have some sort of advantage/disadvantage because of my skin color?

I have never heard it that way and doubt that is how many/most(?), who espouse it understand it.
I don't know of anyone who "have had advantages based on our skin color,"
I certainly haven't. I'm sure you can tell by my baby picture, taken when I was about 1, when FDR was POTUS, what race I am.
I stood on a corner selling newspapers 7 days a week when I was 12. I worked in potato fields from dark to dark for my summer vacation. I got enough to go to a movie and get a drink and popcorn.
I picked cotton in Oklahoma and California, dark to dark, same reward as above. Some of this while living in a transient labor camp "Weedpatch" near Arvin CA. If you have read the book or seen the movie "Grapes of Wrath" At the end that is where the Joad family lived.
I dropped out of school after 10th grade, left home at 16 and joined the Army one less mouth to feed of 11 siblings. I have since earned a HS certificate, BS and Masters. I can guarantee folks the color of my skin did not get me anything.

Popcorn? You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.

Edit: I should have thanked Monty Python for the response.
