Newsmax apologized on Friday for airing false allegations that an employee for Dominion Voting Systems manipulated machines or tallies on Election Day to the detriment of former President Donald Trump.

Coomer filed a lawsuit against Newsmax for defamation in Colorado state court on December 22, 2020. He withdrew that suit earlier on Friday, ahead of Newmax’s apology. Coomer’s attorneys say he has reached a financial settlement, but terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.

In its digital retraction, Newsmax apologized for any harm its reporting of the allegations caused Coomer and his family.
“Newsmax has found no evidence that Dr. Coomer interfered with Dominion voting machines or voting software in any way, nor that Dr. Coomer ever claimed to have done so,” said the statement. “Nor has Newsmax found any evidence that Dr. Coomer ever participated in any conversation with members of 'Antifa,' nor that he was directly involved with any partisan political organization.”

That's the game they play - they loudly and irresponsibly announce falsehoods and present their paranoid speculation as facts and then later they quietly as possible walk it back and make the bare minimum retraction to cover themselves against any possible exposure to legal trouble.
It is part of the larger gaslighting that their entire political ideology is based on.

Profanity trigger trips for posting bit chute videos, but there's enough evidence to prove it was him on that call, and that he said those words. Now how he made sure of it, or whether or not he was trying to just puff his chest out remains to be proven. Let the lawsuit transpire. I'd like to know the truth in detail.

Evidence? We have Oltmann's word about an unrecorded call with unknown people. It's not even hearsay. NewsMax specifically says they do NOT have evidence of Coomer being on such a call.
Several days after the election Oltmann said that he'd infiltrated an earlier call with Denver-area antifa members and heard a man identified as "Eric from Dominion" say he would make sure Trump wouldn't win the election. According to Oltmann, the man said, "Don't worry about the election. Trump is not going to win. I made [awfully] sure of that."
Oltmann has never provided a recording of that call, but the allegation spread rapidly through right-wing social media, making its way to pro-Trump media outlets now included in the lawsuit.
On Wednesday, Oltmann defended himself against the lawsuit on a podcast. "I don't write stuff on my social media that, that frankly, that I wouldn't be able to defend. I don't," he said.

Far-right network One America News and its star correspondent Chanel Rionhave settled a defamation lawsuit with Eric Coomer, a former executive for voting software firm Dominion Voting Systems whom the conspiratorial channel falsely reported as working in concert with antifa activists to steal the 2020 election from Donald Trump.
Terms of the settlement, which was reached last week in a Colorado district court, were not released.
