  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't think it was so much a "change of heart" as it was not wanting a "change of finances" lol.

I recall the idea of a pretty hefty lawsuit getting floated.
(the kind that a rinky dink outlet like OANN wouldn't be able to absorb)

Fox probably could absorb it and not go under, but the people in power over at Fox News (for all their many other biases and flaws) certainly know which hills aren't worth dying on from a financial aspect.
FoxBabeNews still has a few balloon payments left on those sexual harassment settlements. The Big Lie isn’t worth it to them.

If Eric Coomer hadn't of said "I made sure Trump wouldn't win" (paraphrasing, removed profanity)...I wouldn't have much question on Dominion. If Biden hadn't said "most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics" I wouldn't question to the degree that I am.

If there wasn't a mountain of evidence supporting the voter fraud narrative, I wouldn't believe it either. Just because "conservative" news media doesn't want to get sued so they look the other way doesn't mean 75 million Americans should do the same.
...
Coomer filed a lawsuit against Newsmax for defamation in Colorado state court on December 22, 2020. He withdrew that suit earlier on Friday, ahead of Newmax’s apology. Coomer’s attorneys say he has reached a financial settlement, but terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
...
In its digital retraction, Newsmax apologized for any harm its reporting of the allegations caused Coomer and his family.

Newsmax has found no evidence that Dr. Coomer interfered with Dominion voting machines or voting software in any way, nor that Dr. Coomer ever claimed to have done so,” said the statement. “Nor has Newsmax found any evidence that Dr. Coomer ever participated in any conversation with members of 'Antifa,' nor that he was directly involved with any partisan political organization.”

Newsmax Retracts Support For Election Conspiracy Theory That Forced A Colorado Man Into Hiding

Newsmax paid Eric Coomer to drop his lawsuit against them. They also agreed to apologize and admit that they lied.

So admission is no longer evidence?

Irrelevant. Whatever Newsmax did is non-sequitur.

This thread is about the right-wing media back-tracking. Paying someone off and apologizing sounds like a back-track to me.

That's the game they play - they loudly and irresponsibly announce falsehoods and present their paranoid speculation as facts and then later they quietly as possible walk it back and make the bare minimum retraction to cover themselves against any possible exposure to legal trouble.

It is part of the larger gaslighting that their entire political ideology is based on.

Oh, rambot! Now the true believers in election fraud theory will just have to add Fox News, OANN, and the other media sources that came clean to their "Fake News" list.

Agreed, but Coomer did say it, and there was no justice (yet).

How do you know Coomer said something? Newsmax doesn't know it.

What evidence do you have that he did actually say that?

Profanity trigger trips for posting bit chute videos, but there's enough evidence to prove it was him on that call, and that he said those words. Now how he made sure of it, or whether or not he was trying to just puff his chest out remains to be proven. Let the lawsuit transpire. I'd like to know the truth in detail.

Evidence? We have Oltmann's word about an unrecorded call with unknown people. It's not even hearsay. NewsMax specifically says they do NOT have evidence of Coomer being on such a call.

Several days after the election Oltmann said that he'd infiltrated an earlier call with Denver-area antifa members and heard a man identified as "Eric from Dominion" say he would make sure Trump wouldn't win the election. According to Oltmann, the man said, "Don't worry about the election. Trump is not going to win. I made [awfully] sure of that."

Oltmann has never provided a recording of that call, but the allegation spread rapidly through right-wing social media, making its way to pro-Trump media outlets now included in the lawsuit.

On Wednesday, Oltmann defended himself against the lawsuit on a podcast. "I don't write stuff on my social media that, that frankly, that I wouldn't be able to defend. I don't," he said.

I have no doubt NewsMax is empty handed on this.

So what is this evidence you're talking about? That dude's podcast? Is NewsMax unable to listen to podcasts?

Go to bit chute and search "eric coomer 'made sure'"...ignore the 4th person commentaries.

The recording of this call will be found on the mirrored hard drive of the “Hunter Biden” laptop from Rudy’s “things”.

Neither does OAN.

OAN and Chanel Rion Settle Lawsuit Over Their Bonkers Claims About a Dominion Exec

Far-right network One America News and its star correspondent Chanel Rionhave settled a defamation lawsuit with Eric Coomer, a former executive for voting software firm Dominion Voting Systems whom the conspiratorial channel falsely reported as working in concert with antifa activists to steal the 2020 election from Donald Trump.

Terms of the settlement, which was reached last week in a Colorado district court, were not released.
