Trump Wrong About Ventilators
President Donald Trump falsely claimed that his administration was not initially able to meet the increasing demand for ventilators to treat COVID-19 patients because “we weren’t left ventilators by a previous administration.”

We can’t say for sure how many ventilators there were in the Strategic National Stockpile when Trump took office, but there were likely thousands.

"We don't know how many there were". So if there was even one then Trump lied. you have to love an unbiased article.
...uhmmm...so it's okay if President Trump isn't truthful about, well...pretty much anything? Because I kind of thought people who are supposed to be doing a job for us were sort of supposed to tell us the truth.

Sorry but a post from you starting up with "Trump wrong about ..." is absolutely ... predictable.
Well, in my defense, President Trump is kind of a smorgasbord of wrong, as in, it's more a problem of deciding which wrong thing/un-truth he said or did then having to look for them. :sorry:

Just sayin'.
As is your right to do.

Not even bothering to agree or disagree.
Okay, you do realize our "agreeing or disagreeing" doesn't really change the fact about whether something is true or not true, right?

The truth is out there. Whether either of us see it or not. My comment was just about your rock solid predictability. Nothing else.

My point would be that anything can be twisted into an example of a lie and we have no shortage of people who love to twist his words.

Well some of us do appreciate knowing facts such as this one from the article with a link to where they got the information from.
The cupboards were not bare when it comes to ventilators. We know that there was at approximately 9,000 in the federal stockpile. 4,500 of those were added in 2009/2010.

However, SNS ventilators might not suffice to meet demand during a severe public health emergency. In 2002, the SNS included ≈4,400 ventilators (8,9), and 4,500 SNS ventilators were added during 2009 and 2010. The American Association for Respiratory Care suggested the SNS inventory should increase to at least 11,000–16,000 ventilators in preparation for a severe influenza pandemic (10). The American Association for Respiratory Care and CDC (11) provide training on 3 types of SNS ventilators—LP10 (Covidien, Boulder, CO, USA); LTV1200 (CareFusion, Yorba Linda, CA, USA); and Uni-vent Eagle 754 (Impact Instrumentation, Inc., West Caldwell, NJ, USA)—to ensure proper use nationwide. In addition to the nationally held SNS, some US states maintain their own stockpiles.

True, but just look closely at the wording in the link...

"President Donald Trump falsely claimed that his administration was not initially able to meet the increasing demand for ventilators to treat COVID-19 patients because “we weren’t left ventilators by a previous administration.”

"We can’t say for sure

"how
many ventilators there were in the Strategic National Stockpile when Trump took office, but

"there were likely

"thousands.

So, in summary, this excuse for a fact-checking service says for certain that Trump "falsely" said something, and then to prove it makes the following points--

FactCheck.org can't say for sure...how many ventilators there were, but...maybe there were a few... many fewer (i.e.'thousands'), that is...than were needed.

But on the basis of knowing nothing, they are certain that the President made a false statement about that same problem.

They knew that in 2009/2010 there were approximately 9,000 ventilators per the report from the CDC which is linked to in the article, not to mention the article from 2007 when a team of reporters was given a tour of one facility and their description of the contends.

To be clear: if it's been pointed out several times to someone that what they're saying isn't right or true and they keep right on saying it anyway? That's when something moves from "they're just mistaken about that" into "they're lying about that". That's not "twisting what they said" that's "accurately repeating what they said". I'm reminded of a quote:
"When an honest man discovers he is mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or cease to be honest." -Anonymous
tulc(just thought that should be pointed out)
