Why didn't New York shut down early on? Would that have helped NY in containing this virus so it didnt enter other parts of the city and state? Can any outbreaks in the US be linked to New York? Could New York have prevented other US outbreaks if they had shut down early on? Thoughts?

The virus had likely taken hold before anyone realized it. New York City is a major destination for global trade and tourism so it's no surprise that it would have a major impact there.

I doubt science is that ignorant that they assume no one is contagious until a test says otherwise. Not so with government and media obviously. People spread disease before it becomes apparent in them, at least that is how it has always worked.

Neither do the media. They crowd into press conferences, maybe they should be wearing some kind of protection. Dr. Fauci would rather do virtual conferences.
