I believe you, and there is no doubt that you are working hard to improve the world around you. I'm not trying to talk you into Christianity. All I am doing is acknowledging to you what you believe already. You don't love God, because you don't believe that there is a God. Therefore, you don't believe that there is a heaven, so you certainly won't be going there.

I don't think that you really know what will happen to you after death, but I think you are hoping that it will be just oblivion. But we won't know that for sure until we get to that point.

The interesting thing about Solomon was, that he was king of Israel, immensely wealthy so that he had everything he needed and wanted in life. He had a thousand wives who catered for his every need, improved Israel immensely by building the Temple, and so he was famous and well-respected by all. So, he lived a great life. Yet as an old man, as we see in the book of Ecclesiastes, he was deeply depressed and miserable and said, "All is vanity. We live just like animals, and we die like the animals and go to the grave." In spite of all that wealth and fame and the good life, all had turned to dust when he got old.

I wonder whether that will be your future? When all your hard work has crumpled to dust in your old age, will you end up depressed and miserable and say to the nurse who is attending you in the old folks home, "Life has lost its meaning for me"?

I often doubted doing good because often it feels so bad and miserable inside but I believe in it really and wants to have a better world, I`m not disrespecting your beliefs but I rather work hard here on earth to make it better instead of believing in something, yes I understand but he was probably being negative I haven`t really had the time to be the same

Without a revelation from the Holy Spirit, all my friend has is his intellect and gut feelings. That's why I am not challenging his view of life. There is no point. If you read my posts, all I am telling him is exactly how it is and what he could expect in the future. He will find out in time whether I am right or not.

Ah yes the revelation hehe

Fair enough. As I said to our other friend on this thread - time will tell and will confirm who is right. I suspect that there is a part of you that is wondering about these things, and this is why you started your thread on CF. All I can say is to keep an open mind about what I have said. I didn't really want to be like Marvin the depressed robot from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but rather to share a perspective for you to chew over.

Not really becasue you deep down knows that christians only care about you if you`re good enough

I feel concern for Jeffery Dahmer, and he was a cannibal.

Well, I was just thinking, for over 2000 years people say that Jesus is coming back but he never really does, why do you still spread dates he`s coming back?

1. No church has authorized any such announcements.
It's always an individual making such claims.

2. Poe's law

Most of those claiming dates are false teachers looking for you tube hits. They get enough hits they make a dime on it. Nobody knows the time but many church leaders believe the time draws near based on an accumulation of events and increase of events all at once. The drawing near is accelerating and so is a world that is turning away from the doctrine of scripture. We certainly see that here in the US, a country built on the God of Abraham tearing down the traces of God in the fabric of the nation. So while we know no date, we also know we aren't exactly going towards God as a nation either.

As to the idea that it's been a long 2000 year wait ? To God that equates to two days. So it has not been long at all, only to impatient man but not to God.

But as Christians we aren't to worry about these things, our job is to stay faithful and also to evangelize . Meanwhile in everything an atheist see's as proof that there is no god a faithful person in Christ see's as evidence and in fact proof that there must be God. So the person who mentioned it comes by revelation to each of us, that is true. Atheists I know of who have come to Christianity in our world wide mission field say it is as if their eyes were opened and the very things they saw as anti God now shine as proof of God to them. Converted atheists are some of Christ's strongest advocates and it's only by the grace of God that Jesus was revealed to them. We hear powerful testimony from x atheists in our world conventions we have. Not every convention but often enough. Most recognize how foolish they were but that's not common to just atheists, it applies to all of us Christians. We all lived outside the will of God once, the atheist is just one more category.

You might consider why it is that you are drawn here to a Christian forum, it's either from self interest, from God that you may see something or from Satan that you might try to derail Christianity. But we believe that nothing happens by coincidence.

You should ask your question of the converted atheists who testify in our pulpits because their walk is different from mine and mine from theirs. They can better relate to your mindset, since they too once thought the same way or similarly to you. They were changed. I can tell you only that when the Holy Spirit comes upon you ( anyone), you will never be who you once were.

Really ? Or are you missing it because your spiritual eyes and ears are closed and so you can't see or hear right now? We need to step into this walk with just a seed worth of faith to even begin to have those eyes and ears opened up. That's the thing, we don't open them, He does. But first we take that baby step with the little seed that has been planted in us.. You're blocking that part yourself.

You know a belief in god is just made up, right?

That remains your own belief without evidence.

Faith sometimes remains the only way for humans to reach a truth. You don't dig evidence when daily news are broadcast in TV channels. You swallow them with faith. Even though you may try to evidence events occurred recently, it's never efficient for each and every individual to dig up evidence in order to believe.

Faith in human testimonies remain the only efficient way for humans in majority to reach a truth of any kind.

That said. God will not leave you the evidence you demand because humans in majority will have to rely on faith to be saved. So if God leaves you the evidence it could mean that there's no way that you can be saved.

This world doesn't lie inside God's dwelling realm. Christianity is about how humans make their way back to God's realm which we call Heaven. Christianity is basically not about making a better world. Humans themselves can decide to make a world better though.
