Met Jonah's announcement is unhinged paranoid nonsense. EDIT: note that I am quite sympathetic to criticisms of US foreign policy, but this is just absurd.
Wow. "Unhinged"? Ok. :|

Folks: don't leave your parishes. Seriously.

EDIT: if you're in America, unless you're in a Greek parish and there's a ROCOR parish nearby that you regularly commune at (or vice versa), this has no real effect on you. Don't leave your parish.
I'm not considering leaving at this point. I'm more worried if something happens to make our parish fall apart.

The site that picked it up, by the way, seems to be run by Duginists (fascists).
A supposed fascist online news source is posting a bishop's anti-fascist remarks?

Btw, another online news source also posted Met. Jonah's remarks.

But it doesn't really matter. ROCOR and the Antiochian synod said close to the same thing about the EP falling prey to the geopolitical garbage going on:

"The Church of Antioch warns from the dangers of implicating the Orthodox world in the international political conflicts and the resulting harms which come from approaching the Orthodox Church’s issues on the basis of politics, ethnicity, and nationalism.

The Church of Antioch calls upon His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch to call for an urgent Synaxis for the primates of the Orthodox Autocephalous Churches, in order to discuss the current developments that the Orthodox world is facing about the issue of granting autocephaly to new churches, and the efforts made to find common solutions before taking any final decisions about this issue.

The Church of Antioch highlights the necessity of spiritual vigilance in this critical period of history, and the importance of preserving the peace and unity of the Church, and to be watchful on not falling into the trap of political entanglement which history has proved to cause the Orthodox Church a weakening of Her united witness in the world."

1. Yes. Follow who they are until you get to Dugin. It's run by "Center for Syncretic Studies", which is a neo-fascist think tank - if you look at their other projects they are promoting "the fourth political theory" and other ideas from Dugin.

2. Good, let's link to that.

3. The Antiochian statement is much more reasonable, less of a fever dream.

Unfortunately, I can't find the link from the other article that someone posted on FB. If I find it, I'll post it.

Certainly, but Russia's meddling in Ukraine can't be ignored, either. There wouldn't be a civil war there without it (including their material support and even boots on the ground).

Umm the Civil War was started by the United States. After their NGO's started the Maidan riots and ousted the duly elected president timed to coincide as Russia and Putin were hosting the Sochi Olympic games.

Who invaded Crimea, again?
Nobody. Russia has a military base there and was annexed without a shot fire. Including agreements that it was only gifted to be administratively run a few decades ago. Most ukranians themselves were surprised they didn't take it back in 1991.

I think there's more to that, and we aren't going to get it in our anti-Russian corporate media.

Secondly, I don't think we Americans, especially our government, can really point out the "meddling" of other countries considering our record of not only meddling, but invading, bombing, destroying other countries and toppling other countries' leaders. It's quite hypocritical.

As I said before, I'm very sympathetic to this line of argument.

So its Constantinople against the rest so to speak ?
I listened very closely to the video of the Pope of Alexandria's comments, and he very clearly said the Ukranian Church was the canonical church. Did I miss something?

This is correct. Which is surprising actually. I am Greek and hate to say it but even though most Greek bishops and monks are privately on the side of Moscow (it's really a no-brainer) they will not dare speak out against their little Hellenic club, they will do what it takes to preserve their floundering hellenic hegemony. The Patriarch of Alexandria while Greek through and through has cultivated close Russian ties in the past 500 years though (including the current Alexandrian Patriarch), so that may explain it.
