Actually, maturity says just the opposite: that in order to study for understanding means that there may be resources by more mature and knowledgeable people who can help you to learn and understand.

"I can do it myself!" is the battle cry of a five year old who doesn't want daddy holding the bike while he peddles.

Likewise, "study" means relying on a host of resources.

Studying to me is looking at many different points of view from both sides of the argument with what ever scripture they are using. You dont need a theology degree to read the bible from front to back in context.

If you study:
Why does Side A think ____is valid
Why does Side B think____ is invalid
What does the bible say

And you can come to a complete conclusion in context.

It is accurate from a Baptist theological viewpoint. As such, I would clearly disagree with many of their positions, and I find their arguments regarding Baptismal Regeneration, for example, to be circular and based on misunderstandings of basic scriptural principals.

If you are only interested in learning about the Baptist view of theology from Baptist sources, then it would be a good reference for you. If you are interested in learning about theology from a historical, universally Christian perspective, then it is woefully inadequate.

Some of their articles such as those on Christology are so basic that there is little there to dispute. But when it comes to topics over which Christians part fellowship such as the doctrine of Baptism their baptistic, sacramentarian bias becomes very evident. They make no effort to attempt to explain different positions but instead use long disproved arguments and circular logic to put forward only one point of view. Those who are Baptist or baptistic in their theology will find their doctrines upheld while those from other older and more orthodox Christian traditions will take issue with many of their conclusions. I'd like to revive this Thread.

Gotquestions is utter trash. It gives a stereotypical fundamentalist Baptist viewpoint. It is very dismissive of other viewpoints ("the Bible CLEARLY teaches...)

I can live with the baptist viewpoint but my beef with got questions is you can't teach faith alone in one breath and then on another page teach Lordship salvation. Which is it are we saved by faith or by declaring Jesus Lord and making him Lord of your life?

To be fair, Gotquestions articles are written by multiple different authors, but that's no excuse for its bipolar attitudes on certain topics.

Yeah that's true. I didn't really think about that. I just tend to stay away from sites that teach Lordship salvation. But Got questions seems to have an "we're right about everything" attitude that I just don't like. I like biblehub and other religious sites better than got questions.
