O'Reilly telling tales again?

O'Reilly Lied About Suicide Of JFK Assassination Figure, Former Colleagues Say | Blog | Media Matters for America

Bill O'Reilly has repeatedly claimed he personally "heard" a shotgun blast that killed a figure in the investigation into President John F. Kennedy's assassination while reporting for a Dallas television station in 1977. O'Reilly's claim is implausible and contradicted by his former newsroom colleagues who denied the tale in interviews with Media Matters. A police report, contemporaneous reporting, and a congressional investigator who was probing Kennedy's death further undermine O'Reilly's story.......Byron Harris, a reporter at WFAA for the past 40 years, agreed that O'Reilly had not traveled to Florida for the story and accused him of stealing his reporting on de Mohrenschildt's suicide from a newspaper.
According to Harris, O'Reilly "was in Dallas. He stole that article out of the newspaper. I guarantee Channel 8 didn't send him to Florida to do that story because it was a newspaper story, it was broken by the Dallas Morning News."

oh, O'Reilly.....the web is tangled...

After all the years of us being told that Fox News lies, it's a liberal news anchor who got "fired" for lying. Turns out that pill is a bit hard to swallow

Fox News doesn't fire their liars, they give them their own shows :p

I have to give Fox News credit, when it comes to spin, lies by omission, and using logical fallacies they are second to only the king, Rush Limbaugh.

We only have one proven liar, make that two including Dan Rather. And neither of them worked for Fox News. How weird is that?

Did you even bother to go to the link...

I guess we could quibble about what exactly a lie is, guess if you are just mistaken then you can say "I wasn't lying".

Another popular Fox News technique is to say, "We were only joking", that's one Bill uses all the time.

New Anchors lie and embellish all the time. They have to sell themselves. Bill isn't any different than anyone else.

The irony is that they don't have to lie. I don't expect my news anchor to have been in combat for crying out loud...

and to be fair (since I'm all about being fair) I do think all news orgs embellish and spin, i just have to give Faux News credit for being the best of the best 2nd to only the King of Talk radio...

The link was subjective. Plain and simple

Fascinating when people go looking on blogs for hearsay in order to support their dislike for someone or some group. Sadly happens time and time again.

For me, I don't think people need to justify their dislike for someone or an organization. It's OK to simply say, I don't like em!

If one needs to defend their dislike, surely there are enough facts availiable to back it up (if it's anything beyond simple gut feeling emotional level dislike).

This thread is about Bill O'Reilly, not news anchors.

Yes, Mach, please limit your responses to the topic of Bill O'Reilly's lies.

...so a network lets someone who lied go and Fox doesn't, that proves Fox is better then "liberals"? :sorry:
tulc(suspects that doesn't make Fox look very good)

New Anchors lie and embellish all the time. They have to sell themselves. Bill isn't any different than anyone else.

Like many folks on the networks, he is not a journalist, he is an entertainer and the entertainment, is telling his viewers, what they want to hear, because it makes them feel good.

All Networks do the same, some are just more blatant about it than others.

No, we only have 2 liars who've been held accountable, both by liberal news networks. Conservative networks like Fox News have proven liars, but they don't hold them accountable.

Not so. Allegations do not rise to the level of proof

Sometimes I don't get you Mach0

the link I provided you has quotes of Fox people saying things that are inaccurate. And yet you call that subjective.

The quotes aren't subjective. When a Fox person like JOHN STOSSEL says something like, "There is no good data showing secondhand smoke kills people." that is a lie that is easily verifiable. He said it on air, you look up the validity of his claim and find oceans of data that disprove what he says then you say, "You lied".

Apparently, that isn't good enough for you.

The link has tons of quotes that are not subjective.

I mean, if I say 2 + 2 = 5 is that subjective? If I say government org ABC spends $100M a year on ketchup is that subjective or an easily verifiable statement...

Here is the link again
