Micah 7:18-20 ... God's concern for His people ... Who is God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.
comment: God is pleased to show mercy, love, and forgiveness .... IF we ... repent = DECIDE to quit doing those things that displease Him ... AND ... fast = STOP doing them ... if souls TURN to Him from their way ... from the ways of the enemy and the world ... to HIS WAY ... that's all ... no other requirement ... but to turn back to HIM ... mercy requires NO ACTION from us other than repenting ... no sacrificing or serving or flying ...
BECAUSE ...
Luke 1:72 ... to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
Leviticus 26:42 ... penalties for disobedience ... Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember this land.
...
Malachi 3:7 ... the payment of the tithes ... Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will retuen unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
Malachi 1:6 ... A son honoreth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have despised thy name? Ye offered polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible.
