Black and white=Gnostic/Manichean dualism...which is an anti-Christian heresy. Therefore, it isn't possible for a truly orthodox Christian to accept.

Jesus drank alcohol. Jesus instituted alcohol for one of the elements in Holy Communion along with bread. Jesus turned water into really good alcohol.

Case closed.

OP, ignore pietism...it is unorthodox.

Almost closed, but not quite locked. Romans 14 points out that drinking alcohol can be sinful for some people if they are convinced and convicted that it is sinful, or if it causes another to stumble. Paul also says that these people should not judge others and should keep it between them and God.

But as many have said, most Christians can drink in moderation without sinning, as did many important figures in the Bible, including Jesus.

Nothing wrong with alcohol in moderation. I'd only add to keep in mind fellow Christians, some are against consumption of all alcohol, some have a painful past due to it - I'd just be mindful of this and maybe refrain in the presence of such folk if it may cause divisiveness, reopening old wounds, not faith building etc.

Why not just abstain from something that has the potential to cause so much pain and hurt in the first place? I mean, seriously? Why would a Christian involve him or herself in that?

This is a valid question, and one that can be asked about many things: cigarettes, junk food and deserts, coffee, etc. All of those can be addicting and lead to poor health or worse. Lack of exercise is another one...

How many Christians drink coffee to make up for their lack of sleep, eat fast food junk for lunch in a hurry, and "don't have time" to exercise? Most people would describe that person as a typical professional, not as a sinner. I think a person who has a drink now and then, but works out and eats right is taking much better care of his/her body (ie. temple), but I'm sure others will disagree.

Nothing you just stated is ok either.

Our bodies are the temple of God, it is not our own.

All I can say is don't let other people make you feel bad about something they freely do. You're here, you're alive, this is earth, humans make beer. It's a gift from God imo. It's meant to be drunk in moderation, but intoxication is a side-effect. You will need to use your discernment as to how much you should have. If it's problematic or causes you to stumble, abstain from it. Just don't let anyone make you feel bad about it. Oh and remember, being out of control and drunk can have it's consequences - some of them very damaging for you and your witness.

Except that Jesus did not drink wine. He drank new wine. That is not alcoholic. He drank grape juice essentially.
What's your source for this claim? The Pharisees accused Him of being a drunkard. If everyone knew He was drinking Sam Adams that would be a little silly.
