I think that one should start off by defining what they mean by invade. If you are talking about an armed force landing on our shores with the aim of taking control of the country, then I'd say we have a problem. However, I don't recall any recent such invasion of places like France.


If you are talking about the increase in numbers of a particular group, either from people joining (or converting), members of the group immigrating from other regions, or people who have been members all along being more comfortable and outspoken with it, then I don't think invasion is the right word. I also don't think we need to do anything about it at all. If through immigration and conversion, 50% of the US population is Muslim, and these people live according to US laws, then what's the problem? It's no different, in my mind, then worrying about what would happen if the majority of US citizens were non-Anglo, or if the percentage of gay and lesbian folks increased as more people became comfortable with their sexuality. It's certainly not an invasion.

I don't believe the USA is in danger of instituting sharia law any time soon.
