Hear are a few verses, that will point you in that direction. You won't find the word rapture in the bible. We are looking for the 'end' and the 'resurrection'.
(Mat 24:3 NIV) As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
· We see in this verse that his coming and the end of the age are closely related, by the question of the disciples and the fact that Jesus does not correct that idea!
· Jesus hasnt left yet, and the disciples already want to known the details. This conversation is told in private, it was for his closest followers to know only. Jesus in the following verses will not be trying to deceive his own disciples. I dont believe he leaves anything out. Jesus doesnt know the day or the hour himself, so he will tell them as if it could happen in their life time.
· (Mat 24:6 NIV) You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
· Are we to be looking for the end, or an escape thats well before it? There are many verses which imply the writers of the New Testament were looking for the end.
(1Peter 4:7 NIV), The end of all things is near.
(Mat 24:13-14 NIV) but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. {14} And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Instead of holding on till the rapture, fight till the end!
(1 Corinthians 1:8 NIV), He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(John 6:40b NIV), .... and I will raise him up at the last day.
· Look at Marthas faith in the story of Lazarus.
(John 11:23-24 NIV) Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." {24} Martha answered, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."
· Even Martha knew her brothers resurrection would come on the Last Day, or at the end. She failed to realize Jesus Is The Resurrection. Jesus did raise Lazarus from the dead that day, but Lazarus did not get his glorified body and at some point latter he died like all men do. Jesus never corrected her theology concerning the order of end time events or her faith in the resurrection at the end. As a good shepherd He should have corrected her if she was wrong. She wasnt a Pharisee, she was His!
