  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

But he never taught that his followers would go to the Holy Land before he returned, build another temple and re-introduce sacrifices.

Jesus was the sacrifice made once and for all - why would any of us need to reintroduce sacrifices in a Jewish temple in Israel?
The Apostles did think so:
Paul confirmed that the new Temple will be dedicated to God. 2 Thess 2:4 The Jews won't build it; they will be gone; Amos 2:4-5, +.
The Revelation of Jesus says how His peoples will be together and on earth. Rev 7:9
Revelation 13 tell how the satanic 'beast' will conquer the Holy people, who can only be Christians. This conquest is paralleled in Daniel 9:27, where the ;beast' stops the sacrifices . This has to be in a new Temple, which he then sits in and declares himself to be god.

Try to believe what the Prophesies actually say, rather than what you have been taught.

The Apostles did think so:
Paul confirmed that the new Temple will be dedicated to God. 2 Thess 2:4
Sorry, but do you read, or even consider, the things that you post?
i) This verse does not say that there will be a new temple which is dedicated to God; it says that the man of lawlessness will set himself in God's temple and be worshipped as God.
ii) Paul wrote the letters to the Thessalonians. Paul died in around 64 AD - the temple was still standing at that point as it was not destroyed until 70 AD.
Put simply, this verse does not speak of a 3rd temple, nor does it say what you said that it says.
The Jews won't build it; they will be gone; Amos 2:4-5,
And where do those verses say that this is still to come - i.e why do they apply to the situation now, in the 21st century?
The Revelation of Jesus says how His peoples will be together and on earth. Rev 7:9
No it doesn't.
It says that John saw a vision of all people, from all over the world, standing before the throne of God, clothed in white and worshipping him.
That is not the same as saying that all people will be together on earth.
This has to be in a new Temple, which he then sits in and declares himself to be god.
Why does it have to be in a new temple?
Where does it say that Christians will build that new temple - I thought you just posted a verse which says that the beast will be given power to conquer Christians?
Try to believe what the Prophesies actually say, rather than what you have been taught.
Try reading verses before you post them, look at them in context and what was happening at the time, rather than assuming that various OT prophecies apply to today and will be fulfilled in the future.

Whenever an OT prophecy was fulfilled in the NT, the writers told us; i.e. "this was to fulfil what was said ....", "Jesus did this to fulfil .....".
Jesus did not say that certain OT prophesies applied to a time in the 21st century and we have no authority to assume that they do. Jesus spoke of a time when God's temple would be destroyed. He did not say that future generations would rebuild it, nor that sacrifices would be offered there.
Why would that happen? God is our temple, and we are temples of God. Jesus fulfilled the law, which meant that he fulfilled sacrifices.

Jesus did not say that certain OT prophesies applied to a time in the 21st century and we have no authority to assume that they do
But He did, in Matthew 24:37-44, He referred to Noahs Flood and said - when He will come unexpectedly. it will be another worldwide disaster, The terrible Day of the Lord fiery wrath; the Sixth seal.
When Jesus Returns. we will expect Him, as He will come exactly 1260 days after the 'beast' conquers the Christian peoples and desecrates the new Temple.
The new Temple is described in Ezekiel 40 to 46. To be built by the true Israelites of God, those who love Jesus and serve Him, from every tribe, race, nation and language.

Yes, unexpectedly.
Not, "after you've worked out the day from OT prophecies and concluded that they have been fulfilled."
the Sixth seal.
He didn't say anything about the sixth seal.

When Jesus Returns. we will expect Him, as He will come exactly 1260 days after the 'beast' conquers the Christian peoples and desecrates the new Temple.
Nor did he say that.
First you say he will come unexpectedly, then that we will expect him on a certain day.
The new Temple is described in Ezekiel 40 to 46. To be built by the true Israelites of God, those who love Jesus and serve Him, from every tribe, race, nation and language.
Jesus didn't say that either.
And he certainly said nothing about offering sacrifices.

I know history very well, what is Prophesied, mostly remains unfulfilled.
He didn't say anything about the sixth seal.
He did say in His fiery anger and wrath, many times; OT and NT.
First you say he will come unexpectedly, then that we will expect him on a certain day.
I refer to 2 Days of the Lord. First the Sixth Seal when He will not be seen. Habakkuk 3:4, +
Second; the glorious Return, seen by all.
Two separate Days, totally different and years apart.
And he certainly said nothing about offering sacrifices.
Yu simply cannot deny Prophesies like Isaiah 56:1-7 and Ezekiel 40 to 46

I'm not denying prophecies; I'm simply doubting your authority to apply them to current events and times.

Apart from anything else, you have twice given verses saying that they illustrate/prove something when they do nothing of the sort. You have not replied when I've pointed this out. Nor have you given NT teaching showing that sacrifices - presumably animal sacrifices - will be restored in the temple. If you are unable to understand the context and relevance of verses that you quote, how can anyone be assured that you have a grasp of the topic under discussion?

I claim no authority. But I do assert that I can read and understand the Prophetic Word.
Any beliefs that do not conform to the plain Words, will always read another meaning into scripture.
Only a correct understanding will properly fit the verses presented. If you disagree, provide your interpretation - with context proof.

We must keep in mind, that we will be Judged and accusation of the brethren is not acceptable.

You say: there will never again be Sacrifices and Offerings in a new Temple. Ezekiel 30:40-41, Isaiah 56:6-7, Jeremiah 33:14-18, + , say there will be.
Ezekiel 40 to 46 describes the building and operation of a new Temple, that the Shekinah Glory of God will reside in. Something which the second Temple did not have.

I claim no authority.
You do though.
I have read a few of your posts in the eschatology forum and in most of them you quote reams of verses and then say that they show that so and so will happen. In a couple of threads you have even linked these to certain dates - something might happen this autumn or maybe in Jan 2026.
A while back I even seem to remember you using the phrase, "this will happen, or God's word isn't true."
But I do assert that I can read and understand the Prophetic Word.
Many Christians can; but you seem to be insisting that it applies to certain situations in the 21st century.
Maybe a 3rd temple will be built - but there is nothing to say that this will be now, or anytime soon. The prophets do not say that Christians will build it - you have recently used the phrase, "that can only mean ...........". Why can it only mean that; who says?
Hundreds of people/groups have made pronouncements on end times over the centuries - all have been wrong.
Any beliefs that do not conform to the plain Words, will always read another meaning into scripture.
Anyone who says that this OT prophecy refers to something is happening now, or may do in the next 5 years, is reading another meaning into Scripture.
There is no verse which says, for example, that this figure described by Daniel equates to Putin, or the EU, or Russia. Nor that so and so is the antichrist. Anyone who thinks that there is is reading their own interpretation, and maybe biases, into Scripture.
If you disagree, provide your interpretation
I disagree because Jesus said that no one knows the day or hour - and no, that does not mean that we can work out the season or year.
I disagree because his parables were about people not being ready, the king, or bridegroom returning at an unexpected hour and the servants, or bridesmaids, were unprepared.
I disagree because Jesus said that his return would be like a thief in the night. And that if the owner of the household had known when the thief was going to break in, he would have been prepared/taken steps.
I disagree because we have been saved, received eternal life, reconciled to God and called to be salt, light, ambassadors for him and his witnesses. We don't need to know how long we may have left, when the world is going to end or the Lord return. We are just to be faithful in serving him and witnessing to him.

And if you mean that I should provide my interpretation of OT prophecies, that is not going to happen. I can read and learn from them; it's not for me, or anyone, to say that they apply to this age now.
We must keep in mind, that we will be Judged
We will be asked to give an account of our life, our time and the way we have spent it.
Jesus has taken the punishment, and judgement, for our sins and there is no condemnation for those who are in him.

You say: there will never again be Sacrifices and Offerings in a new Temple. Ezekiel 30:40-41,
There aren't 40 verses in Ezekiel chapter 30.
Isaiah 56:6-7,
You seem to be saying that this verse applies to Christians; i.e. that WE will, one day, offer burnt offerings.
That is not what it says - and Jesus is our sacrifice once and for all. He has fulfilled the law, which includes burnt offerings.
Jeremiah 33:14-18,
These verses are a Messianic prophecy - that one day, someone will come from the house of David to do what is right and just in the land.
He did - his name was Jesus. He accepted widows and children, criticised the hypocrisy of the leadership and cared more about people's suffering that in keeping the rules - he touched unclean people and healed on the Sabbath. He called people to follow him, learn a new way, seeks God's kingdom and put him first, not be obsessed with money and not to follow the patterns of this world.
,+ , say there will be.
And you seem to have decided that the verses which, you say teach animal sacrifices, apply to a time in our future - i.e. that WE will be offering them.
Ezekiel 40 to 46 describes the building and operation of a new Temple, that the Shekinah Glory of God will reside in. Something which the second Temple did not have.
It may do - it doesn't say that Christians will go to the Holy Land to build it.

There aren't 40 verses in Ezekiel chapter 30.
I meant Ezekiel 20:40-42 But there....in the Holy Land, I shall accept My Israelite peoples, [the faithful overcomers for God] and require their sacrifices and offerings. .....after I have brought you out from the nations and places to which you have been dispersed. .....You will know that I am the Lord, when I bring My Peoples home to their heritage of the holy Land.

This Prophecy is proof that we Christians will go to live in all of the Holy Land and will again make sacrifices in a new Temple. BEFORE Jesus Returns. Isaiah 49:22-23, Isaiah 57:13b, Psalms 69:35-36
And you seem to have decided that the verses which, you say teach animal sacrifices, apply to a time in our future - i.e. that WE will be offering them.
There is no other explanation for those plainly stated Prophesies. We Christians are Gods people; we serve Him in whatever way He desires.
Realize that there are other reasons for making offerings and sacrifices. Ezekiel 45:20
It may do - it doesn't say that Christians will go to the Holy Land to build it.
Ezekiel 43:10-11 Tell the Israelites about the Temple......
If anyone like to think firstly; that Ezekiel's prophesies are past history, or that the Israelites refer only to Jews, they are very much mistaken, as they do not relate to past events, or to the exclusive House of Judah.

Not long now; the Lord will send the world changer;- Revelation 6:12-17,... then our eyes will be opened and our ears unstopped; Isaiah 35

In no way does that truth mean there can never be another physical Temple.
Bible Prophecies tell us all about the new Temple to be built in Jerusalem, in the end times. The Satanic man will sit in it and declare himself to be God, 2 Thess 2:4

"All the people of Israel", v 40.
"I will bring you into the land of Israel", v 42.
"I will require their sacrifices", v 40.
I am not from Israel nor a person of Israel. The words "the faithful overcomers for God" have been added by you and are therefore an interpretation.
This Prophecy is proof that we Christians will go to live in all of the Holy Land and will again make sacrifices in a new Temple. BEFORE Jesus Returns.
No, it isn't.
You have found some verses which illustrate your point, and you have decided they are a prophecy which applies to, and will be fulfilled by, Christians. That's what I mean about authority. There is nothing in those verses which says it is Christians or, "faithful overcomers for God" who will do this - that is your addition.
Jesus did not say that before he returned, all Christians would go over to Israel, build a temple and offer animal sacrifices again.
As I've asked before, why would we? Jesus is the once and for all time sacrifice for sin, fulfilled the Jewish law - sacrifices - and has not instructed that we start them up again.
If anyone like to think firstly; that Ezekiel's prophesies are past history, or that the Israelites refer only to Jews, they are very much mistaken, as they do not relate to past events, or to the exclusive House of Judah.
Neither do they refer to, or instruct, Christians - and Christ himself did not say otherwise.
Not long now;
If you say so.
Though people have been saying that for 2000 years.
