Non responsive. Nothing here addresses my post. As I stated in my post, not defending anyone just citing facts. You are welcomed to contend with the facts.Wow, what a missed opportunity! If Trump had not been a bad role model, acting like a rebellious teenager in refusing to wear masks even where they were required; if he had not argued with and insulted the scientists who had spent their lives overcoming pandemics; if he had not pursued quack remedies like hydroxychloroquine and worse; if he had not held super-spreader events which killed one of his main supporters, Herman Cain, and almost killed Chris Christie; if he had acted presidentially instead of impulsively there wouldn't have been a tail end of it for Biden to ride on. TBT, I believe had Trump been reelected the pandemic might have killed another million Americans.
Not my facts but the ones on the chart I posted. I made no analysis or conclusions.Your facts, Hentenza, implied that Biden had lower deficits because he didn't have to deal with the pandemic.
But you are not posting any evidence to back your opinion. My response, TBT, is that if Trump had not completely mishandled the pandemic (except for a mad rush to try to get a vaccine before Election Day, followed by a temper tantrum when they didn't succeed) we would have had per captia illness/death numbers similar to countries who dealt with the pandemic scientifically and successfully, and lower deficits.
It's a beautiful day here. We're just about to head out to a local game and meet up with our daughter and grandkids. Have a cold beer. Enjoy the afternoon. I doubt we'll talk politics. More likely sport. Last night's loss and a hope for a win this afternoon and certainly hope for a win tonight in The Big Game.Am thankful that I don’t live in your brain.
Then given that you hail from a country on the other side of the world from the US then our politics should not concern you much. Have fun at the game and enjoy the grandkids. They grow fast. It's a beautiful day here. We're just about to head out to a local game and meet up with our daughter and grandkids. Have a cold beer. Enjoy the afternoon. I doubt we'll talk politics. Trump, plus all politicians, local and overseas, plus all matters political will be tucked away somewhere in my head while I'm enjoying life. They don't bother my every waking moment. But they do actually affect my life, and the life of my family, and will eventually affect the lives of my grandkids in all sorts of complex and convoluted ways. So...if you don't mind, I'll reserve the right to complain about what some of them do, whether it's while I'm propping up a bar somewhere or sitting at the dining table, browsing a part of forum that specifically addresses the failures and wrong doings of some reality TV star who, for reasons that will be discussed and talked about for generations, has been put in a position to affect the lives of almost everyone living on this planet. And not in a good way.
If you open up this section of the forum, then you really shouldn't expect anything else.
Rabid? I think that is more an indication of your personal political position than anything else. The Guardian is a rabid far left tabloid...
It wasn't an opinion piece. The facts were what I quoted. And they are undeniable. The fact that they weren't delivered was purely because USAid was being gutted. Post hoc excuses are just that. Want to issue the contraceptives to organisations that aren't involved in abortion? Then that could easily be done. It still could be done. But hey, the chainsaw is out and who cares if all those people overseas are left in need. You are now living in a Me First state. Inward looking, destroying work that has been built up over many decades. Losing all that soft power that you used to have. Rejecting life long alliances. Giving opportunities to those you'd consider your enemies.so I thought to get another perspective from the one in the previous post.
That might have been the case in the 19th century. But every idiotic pronouncement by the guy currently behind the Resolute desk literally has an affect on my bank balance. It literally causes a realignment of my government's policies. Our PM is now in China being wined and dined by Li Qiang. We are strengthening our ties with S E Asia because we can no longer trust the US, politically, militarily or financially. Then given that you hail from a country on the other side of the world from the US then our politics should not concern you much.
Nah it is a rabid far left tabloid. Look at the end of the article for the writter’s opinion which actually clouds her objectivity.Rabid? I think that is more an indication of your personal political position than anything else.
Compare your article to the one I posted and look at the slant from the guardian. If you don’t see the slant I have an extra pair of glasses you can borrow. It wasn't an opinion piece. And not only that, you'll suffer the consequences of this madness internally as well. You'll come to regret it. But never admit it.
Gee, I guess it's politically incorrect to check with someone who runs a global family planning organization that works in nearly 40 countries to see what affect this madness might have. As she said: “If you have an unintended pregnancy and you end up having to seek unsafe abortion, it’s quite likely that you will die.”Nah it is a rabid far left tabloid. I guess you do need the glasses. Tell me which unbiased news source would print a diatribe at the end of their article titled “at this dangerous time of dissent”. The guardian is nothing but a bull horn for the far left. They wouldn‘t know what unbiased is even if they ran smack into it.Gee, I guess it's politically incorrect to check with someone who runs a global family planning organization that works in nearly 40 countries to see what affect this madness might have. 'In an internal survey, MSI programs in 10 countries reported that, within the next month, they expect to be out of stock or be on the brink of being out of stock of at least one contraceptive method. The countries include Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Senegal, Kenya and Sierra Leone.'
But that doesn't seem to concern you. Or others. But think of the money you are saving!
I would suggest that you concentrate on the facts. But I guess that maybe you think that an opinion which you don't like renders them invalid.I guess you do need the glasses. Again, compare the guardian article to the one I posted. Your emotional fear is unfounded and typical.
And is so powerful that he invades every postTrump is a villain is the main takeaway.
No opinion. I provided a much less far left politically dramatic article but you are stuck on the drama. Drama over facts. Got it.I would suggest that you concentrate on the facts. But I guess that maybe you think that an opinion which you don't like renders them invalid.
It doesn't.
The money had already been allocated by congress. From whose pocket?
We'll never know, but practically speaking, every life saved is a death delayed.Would that one store of food save their lives, or only delay their deaths?
How generous. All are free to donate to their welfare.
We've never been all that generous. The US was the largest dollar contributer of humanitarian aid, but on a per capita basis we were 17th.The money had already been allocated by congress.

How generous.
I am suggesting that we are not responsible to remedy all bad goverance in the world. We have. We do. It's not enough.
Charity has had 6,000 years of failure--not because there are no good people, but because it's not enough.
You are suggesting failure is better?
Amen!Thank God we won't have NPR or PBS or Colbert anymore.
