From KSL.com:
"Over the weekend, the Utah Mammoth posted a message on the social platform X that said, "Happy Pride!" along with a rainbow flag. Pride month is recognized each June as a celebration of LGBTQ+ rights and culture.

"The Utah Jazz posted a similar social media message about Pride, urging love and support for the LGBTQ+ community "as we work to foster a safer and more inclusive space for all."

"But Rep. Trevor Lee, R-Layton, took issue with the hockey team's message, saying that "Utahns overwhelmingly don't support pride month."

"Nothing makes Utahns more mad when political ideologies get pushed into their lives. And even worse, having taxes prop up these ideologies," Lee wrote on X. "Watch for some significant legislation this next session that pushes back onto these woke groups!"

I bet If an X post from them said something like "Go MAGA!" or "Support Pro-Life!" and a D-Rep said the same thing, that would get support from those against what Rep. Trevor Lee, R-Layton said.

I would certainly think twice about personally supporting a team that voiced support for things that I disagree with, but I would not support any legislation aimed at penalizing professional sports teams for making political statements.

I missed the bit where they were suggesting that everyone should get into (ahem) 'weird sex stuff'. I saw the bit where it encouraged love and support and a safer and inclusive community. Maybe some people might actually object to that. Luckily for Utah that would be a significant minority as 80% currently support non-discrimination for LGBTQ citizens. See here: PRRI – American Values Atlas

And from here: 10 years of the Utah Compromise on gay rights and religion

'Ten years ago, Utah passed a landmark pair of bills that combined religious freedom protections with LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections.'

I wonder what 'significant legislation' Senator Lee is considering that would prevent people from posting dangerous messages on social media, such as 'Join us in uplifting and showing love to our LGBTQ+ community as we work to foster a safer and more inclusive space for all.'

I'm not sure how "Watch for some significant legislation this next session that pushes back onto these woke groups!" comes out as a threat to penalize the sports teams.

Let me break it down more simply. LGBT = weird sex stuff. LGBT pride = celebrating weird sex stuff. Weird sex stuff in sports = weird (as you appear to agree). Sports franchises taking time and spending money on announcing their support for LGBT pride = sports franchises bringing weird sex stuff into the sport and expecting sports fans to celebrate weird sex stuff with them. Therefore, it is weird to celebrate weird sex stuff in sports. Conclusion? Just play the darn game and keep the weird sex stuff out of the sport.

What’s weird is people’s minds going straight to sex at just the mere mention of gays or pride month. What goes on inside your head is your own problem.

Hmm lets examine what the letters LGBTQ stand for:

L = lesbian = women who are sexually attracted to other women.
G = gay = sexually attracted to people of one's own sex.
B = Bisexual = Those who feel a sexual and/or romantic attraction to people of a different gender as well as their own.
T = transgender = people whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.
Q = queer or questioning = individuals who don't identify solely with lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, or those who are still exploring their sexuality.

Pride = Pride Month, celebrated in June, is an annual recognition of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community - see above.

Hope that explains it.

Gay = men performing weird sex stuff with other men. Lesbian = woman performing weird sex stuff with other women. Bisexuality = men performing weird sex stuff with men or women performing weird sex stuff with women while sometimes performing less weird sex stuff with the opposite sex. Transgenders are just delusional gays and lesbians who think they are the opposite sex. LGBT pride is celebrating these abominations. What am I missing? @7thKeeper

What about it is supposed to be weird?
Lesbian = woman performing weird sex stuff with other women. Bisexuality = men performing weird sex stuff with men or women performing weird sex stuff with women while sometimes performing less weird sex stuff with the opposite sex.
As said above. I do find it amusing that when it's the opposite sex it's just "less weird". How puritan of you.
Transgenders are just delusional gays and lesbians who think they are the opposite sex. LGBT pride is celebrating these abominations. What am I missing? @7thKeeper
Compassion, like was mentioned. What exactly is supposed to make any of those things abominations? Gender dysphoria is a thing too, but if you want to ignore it just because, you do you.

Compassion already ticked off? Plus empathy. Possibly understanding. Maybe I'd throw in knowledge as well.

If people were performing sex acts on the pitch before the game, even if it was, as far as you are concerned, 'not weird' then I wouldn't turn up. But what in heaven's name my sex life or anyone else's sex life has to do with you is utterly beyond my comprehension.

I've been following sport for very many decades and I've noticed that from being rather ethnically orientated, male dominated, sometimes violent exercises in macho posturing, it has generally evolved into something that more reflects the variety that we see today in society. So the times when most sports were only played and supported by heterosexual men it has changed immensely to include those who would never have considered turning up to a game in times past.

So now I take my grandkids to games. It's safe enough. My wife and our daughter attend. They won't get verbally insulted. Gay partners can turn up without the risk of being spat at or worse. It's now a 'safer and more inclusive space for all'. Except that we still have some way to go. We still have to work at making it completely safe for some sections of society. Because, and you'll understand this, some people are still made to feel unwelcome at some venues, in some countries, because of some people's continued persistence in interesting themselves in their sex life. They think it abominable.

Nobody brings weird sex into their sport franchise. No club asks you to celebrate sex. What a monstrously ridiculous argument! What they do, and what they have done, and what they will keep doing, whatever some guy in Utah wants to do, is to broadcast to all that it doesn't matter what gender you are, how old you are, what disability you have, what partner you have and whatever type of sex you have in the privacy of your own home - you are welcome at the game. That it will be their business to make sure that you will enjoy the experience and won't have to put up with anyone denying you that right. And they'll do that by using their own money to (heavens!) post messages on social media.

So heaven knows what Lee is thinking of doing. Maybe trying to make everyone sign a stat dec before you can buy a ticket saying that you have never had or are intending to have what you and he thinks is 'weird sex'. In the meantime, those who object to what they are doing can just not turn up. They won't be missed.

It really doesn't but thanks anyways.

I'm guessing you also have a hard time attending weddings without thinking about what the bride and groom get into in the bedroom. That an adult seemingly has such a hard time separating people from their sex lives is a bit odd to me.
