  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I Remember...

The 2 min intro.

Can't believe that I watched an episode on youtube the other day , not sure what I was thinking....

What a sweet program ... sweet and innocent. :racehorse:

I go thru periods where I'll go back and review something from the 'way back' past. (It's so cool that we can find so much history on the internet!) I like to see some of these things, to remember how things 'were' ... and think about how they may have influenced my development as a child or young person.

It can be fun and amusing to do ... 'reminiscing' ... and then sometimes, when I look back at some things, I find myself feeling grateful to God for how He has changed me.

Yes I think most of us would be guilty of doing that too , but it is fun.
The one awful memory I have of this train station is that they had no flushing toilets untill the early 70s , even though I was a kid at the time , I can still remember the smell to this day......Yuk!!

(Speaking of 'reminiscing' ... )

I remember when contemporary popular music was romantic.

(Do they even make music like this anymore ... anywhere??? )

lol....I really don't know , my radio channel is always on 60s , 70s and 80s music.
And thanks for the reminiscing , great song.

When I posted that song yesterday, I did not know at the time that (the original) Little River Band was an Australian band! And after listening to that song about a dozen times (lol!), videos about LRB kept appearing on my YouTube, so I saw there were some interesting stories in their history.

I was curious to know who the (original) lead singer was (Glenn Shorrock) and learned he left the group in '82; came back for abit about '88. And then, I learned that the original owners of LRB no longer own the name of the group! What a complicated, and very sad story, is all of that! But because THAT song popped up on my YouTube yesterday, I ended up spending all last evening watching videos about LRB! ^_^

I truly had forgotten about them or their music. I've mostly listened to Christian music for decades now. But once I started revisiting their songs, I quickly remembered how great they were ... Little River Band ( :star:Classic Lineup of Goble, Shorrock, and Birtles).

I don't listen to the current popular music, but 'Reminiscing' did remind me of a time when the more beautiful music was often very popular. We were a much 'gentler' society, back then. Am grateful for having experienced those times.

I remember catching yabbies on farm properties with dams.
We would use one of mums old stockings and place some rotten smelly meat in the bottom of the stocking then throw in the stocking holding the other end. And within minuets 3 or 4 would get hooked while trying to get to the meat.

The fun part was watching your friends scream in pain as a yabbie would latch onto a finger or thumb while trying to get them off the stocking.

Needless to say , this method is no longer used today , they use traps and nets now......( sad )

That's interesting.
What did you do with the yabbies? Use them for bait? (Cook and eat them?)

That method of fishing makes me think of 'noodling'.
Are you familiar with noodling?

I heard about noodling when I lived in Oklahoma.
(At first, I thought it was a joke ... afterall,, who would do such a thing nowadays?? Surely not me! ^_^ )
But no ... noodling is for real, and folks here are still doing it!

Here's a look at some Oklahoma catfish noodlers:

We were only kids of like 8 , 9 or 10 and took them home for our mothers to cook. They are like mini crayfish and taste similar.

I watched your noodling vid and no nothing like that. Never heard or seen anything like that before , very interesting , but I don't think I will be noodling anytime soon...lol

Going to Gibson's on a Friday night and getting a model war ship to build over the weekend.

Your post reminded me of something. As kids reading comic books there was an ad on the last page like this :

We thought we could actually order this and take it to the beach and go underwater. Then we saw the small print where it said , "you can have hours of imaginary fun with this sub" , needless to say , we didn't order..lol

What was the purpose of those, I wonder?

Had to look it up myself , seems they do all sorts of things with them. Collect , paint , create things , it's well worth a look....:)
