^^^ this is fine behavior all Christians should aspire to then?

The only thing that makes it bad is whether you agree with the policies the listeners might want to see?

Just trying to figure it out. The Democrats can name call and it's fine, they can hold multiple political events at Madison Square Gardens without being accused of being Nazis, they can have gutteral racist humor and that is perfectly acceptable to supposedly good Christians but if, on the right side of the aisle anyone even appears to have been raised in the same culture the Democrats peddle daily and suddenly we are an evil to be stomped down, suppressed, and painted as monsters.

Comedy is subjective for the most part its contextual. Its the majority audience who will determine whether its funny or not and it seems at least for George Lopez most people think a Mexican making comedy about Mexicans is funny.

"He’s Mexican making a Mexican joke" — Internet defends George Lopez's Mexicans speech after criticizing Tony Hinchcliffe's Puerto Rico joke

That was the answer I was going to give to @Hazelelponi - that it’s generally considered more acceptable to make these sorts of jokes when the speaker and the audience are both from the group at the butt of the joke, which was the case with Lopez. I’m not going to say that I’d advise making a joke like that, but a Mexican making a joke like that in Phoenix, where a sizable percentage of the crowd is likely of Mexican descent, is likely to be about the most okay context for it.

OTOH, Hinchcliffe is not Puerto Rican, nor, presumably, was much of his audience.
But of course the Woke Left cannot understand such humor as they are so fixated ideology.

Huh? The “woke left” laughed at Lopez’ joke but not Hinchcliffe’s, meaning that we DO understand the difference.

There was no reason to call Kamala Harris "Samoan Malaysian". She is of Indian descent (therefore South Asian) and Jamican descent to a black father. Carlson was just being a jerk. It is mighty dumb of him not to know the difference between India, Malaysia and Samoa.

....Carlson, and many of the other "speakers", obviously felt they a long leash to work with.

And that's the thing with Trump and Trumpism- he provides permission for such people to say offensive (and ignorant) expressions publicly.

Not to mention the continual references to Hitler which are complete nonsense and outright lies. The righteous indignation from liberals over a comedians remarks are nothing short of hypocritical desperation searching for taking points. Were any liberals outraged at the many comedic digs on Trump the last few years?
We barely brought up digs against Harris. We are talking about insulting American citizens who you may be trying to appease and win their vote.

Not just OK but hilarious to them. No better therapy than self comedy. Its gets all the stuff people think but hold in and because its funny it takes the edge off. Thats why its so funny because its true.

But it also depends on the audience and you have to know your audience and the time and place for the very reason that its so sharpe edged. Thats a basic principle in any group interaction. Often the most crude comedians have dedicated followings in specific venues. So of enter at your own risk but if you do enter you have the right to walk away.

But I think if there was no comedy like the PC Left want then the world would be a sadder and less tolerant place.
OTOH, Hinchcliffe is not Puerto Rican, nor, presumably, was much of his audience.
Yes but I don't think that this is a hard and fast rule. If Hinchcliffe performed the same act in a comedy club then its different as that is sort of what is expected. The audience will let the comedian know if its funny or not.

I mean I have seen worse from comedians like Chapelle and Bill Bur and also comedians who are Arab, Indian and the funniest being Aboriginals here in Australia. Gut wrenching comedy because they hit the nail on the head as to what we Aussies and themselves are like.

But British comedy was my favority. Little Britain was hilarious as it captured the class divide and mocked it with rediculous and outragous skits. But it worked until PC came along. That wrecked a few careers.
Huh? The “woke left” laughed at Lopez’ joke but not Hinchcliffe’s, meaning that we DO understand the difference.
Yes which shows they have a sense of humour afterall. At least when its in the right context. But notice its more or less the same kind of joke but done by someone they feel is worthy of doing that joke.

I sort of don't agree with that either because I don't think identity should be the measure of when the joke is ok to say or not. I think in the case of Hinchcliffe is wasn't so much that he should not have said such a joke but that he said it at the wrong event. If he done that joke in a comedy club in the wright context it would not be as offensive.

Because I have heard way worse. Even at public events like I said with Ricky Gervais who is more or less telling people to their face that they are hypocrites, selfish a** holes, perverts and pedophiles and everyone laughts. Same with many comedians who would shock most people today especially the Woke.

I knew when it happenned that we would have trump supporters arguing it didn't happen.

I guess that's the new reality for some people. It's no wonder you hear stories of families getting ripped apart because of politics now.

I think most people would know, its been in the headlines.
Below on the left side of the image are the results of a google search going back five years. I couldn't find any major news sources (NYT, AP, NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, MSNBC, NPR, Newsweek, etc.) reporting on the landfill problems in Puerto Rico on the first several pages. You have to go back more than six years to find any mainstream news sources reporting on it.

This is what I find strange about this idea that its about insulting American citizens that the Left want to charge the Right with.

What they don't seem to understand and even see is that when they dismiss Trump supporters as Nazi followers, Deplarables and stupid for supporting TRump they are actually insulting them. They are calling them the very things they say about Trump.

I watched Michelle Obamas speech at the Dems rally and shorts on Obamas as well. What struck me is that lately like Harris, Clinton, Waltz and others are doing and the Left media they are starting to do the same. I thought they were above all that.

But Michelle was trying to shame people into voting for Harris going on about lying in bed at night wondering how on earth the election race is even close. That everyone who is of right mind should be voting for Harris and the Left.

Then she goes on to say if anyone want to not vote or vote for Trump in protest at what is happening in their lives with the current government that if we don't get this election right your protest vote will cause collateral damage to women.

I mean thats pretty insulting to all those who have a different view. Its more or less saying Trump supporters are abusers of women.

Thern Obama has been going around lecturing young black men that they should vote for Harris. They should do right by their mummas and vote Harris as its the manly thing to do.

Thats not counting all the other Leftist ideologues like DiNero who are going around calling Trump supporters idiots, theres something wrong with them. Or that all whites are racist or Transphobes even when they honestly say they are not.

Give me a break the Left have no moral ground when it comes to insulting people.

No no. I'm not saying that about the WING. I'm saying that about the comedian.

Yeah, the "landfill" explanation smacks of a post hoc excuse dug up by somebody in the right-wing propaganda-sphere.

Yeah this certainly was doled out to right wing media consumers through the usual channels. They needed something to cling to, even if it falls apart upon scrutiny. They arent exactly fond of exercising scrutiny.

Such as that. Its vile.
lol that is what I was asking. Not that it was vile but who were the other speakers who were being vile. You mention comparing Harris to the antiChrist. If that was the case then thats not good either in the context.

That joke is about theft.
It may be funny to Mexicans but not funny to the Americans
If you think Mexicans stealing the fence is a joke, then the joke is on you
George actually insulted Americans but that is cool. Obama, Hillary, all the "best' folks do it.

Americans are fair game. Anyone can insult, ridicule, denigrate, lie to and steal from Americans.

Thats because it depends on the google algorithms you have. Obviously because its become a news issue from the Trump rally its going to dominate the first couple of pages. But as you go in you begin to notice its the second biggest story. Then you go back further and its the only story on the issue about it being a problem or crisis for Puerto Rico.

The link I posted was on the first page. But when you get to the second page you begin to see more. For example
1730214144960.png

1730214183796.png

But nevertheless it doesn't matter. I'm not saying it was appropriate under the circumstances. Personally I had vaguely heard of the problem on a news item associated with the hurricanes that spread the rubbish out to sea. But I knew that he did not mean people. That is just a crazy and obvious thing not to say. Something so obviously politically incorrect and not funny.

I don't think in any way the Trump rally intended such a hateful idea. It was something Hinchcliffe has done and he has misread the situation wanting to make an impression. But I don't think he would have meant it as meaning certain people are like garbage.

But if he did then he has a screw loose somewhere. But he doesn't seem to be that type of person from other stuff he has said.

Well then he should have learnt from that. Gee if a comedian tests his material and he doesn't get any laughs you would think they would join the dots. Afterall their business is to make people laugh.

Nevertheless I don't think a political venue is a good place to tell such a joke. But it also doesn't mean a person should not be able to tell such jokes in the right place.
