So you don't want us to know about kids being shot? Well, that'll certainly stop people demanding that we must do something about the carnage. It'll be a simple response: 'Carnage? What carnage?'

If you have an example of someone gunning down a few people and then plea bargaining their own release, please let me know. This might just be me, but I don't think that mass murderers are out on bail shooting yet more people. Unless they've already stopped reporting these events and we are already in blissful ignorance.
Most gun related deaths are not reported by the media. You can have 30 people murdered by guns in Chicago in one weekend and not hear a word about it but 4 people get killed in a school and it dominates the news.
Selective reporting.

They said they did not have enough to hold him.
Such investigations are clearly a waste of time as school shootings are just a fact of life we need to get over after all.

When you live in a country that experiences such an absurd amount of gun violence like the United States, the media has no choice but to be selective when it comes to which shootings to cover. There have been more than 220 shootings where over 60 people have been killed and 170 injured in just the past 72 hours alone in the United States. There have been 11 mass shootings in just the past week.

There's just not enough time in the daily news cycle to cover every shooting in this country. School shootings will, of course, get more coverage because of the nature of the crime. Most gun violence occurs in connection with some other crime or is committed by someone who is known to the victim; school shootings, on the other hand, are more random and involve innocent children being targeted in what is supposed to be a safe environment.

That means though that sense most shootings are not covered really people do not know about the ones where criminals kill other criminals or every time a person uses a gun while committing an unrelated crime or any time a person kills themselves with a firearm ( wwhich really are the majority of deaths very few of which ( particularly at this point would change with stricter access to guns leegally.

The media sensationalize certain issues for instance if the police kill a black person that will get coverage, a mass shooting or a school shooting will but black on black crime or police killing a white person will only get local coverage

Of course it's very easy to say that when surrounded by bullet proof glass and a security detail.

There were over 20 black people killed by police last month, one every day and a half, how many of those incidents did you see being covered by the national media?

Black-on-black crime and police killing a white person are a daily occurrence; those stories, while tragic, are not newsworthy outside of their local markets unless there are some sort of exceptional circumstances behind them. In contrast, there have only been two mass school shootings in the United States in 2024.

and we are better than 2/3 in which tells me that mass shootings are rare in comparision to the NUMBER of gun deaths.
2/3 of what? The school year just started.

Yeah you can get some pretty secure safes for pretty cheap these days. I only paid $170 for mine on Amazon. They’re actually cheaper now.

Actually this isn’t the one I got the one I have has biometric fingerprint reader on it.

How good is the fingerprint reader? I was looking at gun interlock devices with biometrics when I first heard about them 20 years ago but they were not very good. I understand the technology has come a long way since then.

This was not newsworthy?
A prominent case where a white man was killed by police while being restrained for a blood draw is the case of Edward Bronstein in California, where he died in police custody after officers forcefully restrained him face-down on the ground while attempting to take a blood sample following a DUI arrest; he reportedly screamed "I can't breathe" multiple times before losing consciousness.

Key details about the case:

  • Circumstances:
Bronstein was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and refused to take a blood test at the police station.

Police action:
When Bronstein resisted, officers pinned him face down on the ground, leading to him pleading for air.

Outcome:
Despite his pleas, Bronstein died during the restraint.

  • Legal repercussions:
Multiple officers and a nurse involved in the incident were charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Nowhere near the coverage or outrage of George Floyd. Who has ever heard of Edward Bronstein?

A simple google search shows that this case was covered by the national and international media, but this incident didn't involve guns and wasn't an officer involved shooting, so it's really not on topic.
