  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Maybe it was a mistake. If so, it’s all good, like when Biden did it
  • Victims: The strike killed Zemari Ahmadi, an Afghan aid worker for the U.S.-based organization Nutrition & Education International (NEI), and nine members of his family, including seven children. The youngest victim was a two-year-old girl named Sumaya.
  • The Mistake: U.S. intelligence tracked Ahmadi's white Toyota Corolla for eight hours, mistakenly believing it was an ISIS-K vehicle laden with explosives and a direct threat to U.S. forces at the Kabul airport, days after a deadly suicide bombing there.
"We mis-identified the target" is a mistake. "Shoot them again" is not. It's possible that an ambiguous statement from SecDef was interpreted to mean that, as others have already posited, but giving the order - if such an order was indeed given - to target the survivors of the initial strike was unambiguously against the laws of armed conflict

I said that earlier myself.

Maybe they'll find a way to let him weasel out. It depends on how bipartisan the Congressional complaints get. All it does is feed fuel to the fire of troops being sure not to obey illegal orders, particularly if the lower ranking people catch heat.

He wouldn't have had to say anything, simply not do it. The survivors of the later boat were rescued alive.
Guess what? They weren't all Venezuelan.
