It used to be that corporations viewed “ news” as a necessary “service”, (since under the FCC rules, radio (and later television) stations had to renew their license and a factor in getting renewed was if the station provided accurate information in its broadcastings).
Since cable news services aren’t under as tight a control from the FCC, they can shovel out whatever the market will bear, which is quite a lot.

After becoming wealthy a lot of people will “invest” in telecommunications, which they steer to make sure that their own money supply is “safe”.

What we witness as “bias” is competing opinions about how best to move forward with our society, the ol’ “marketplace of ideas”.

It's standard procedure when dealing with people who take classified materials they're not authorized to have. If anything, it's lenient - Trump was given multiple opportunities to return the documents he'd taken, but he refused, and instead tried to conceal them. You or I would not have been given those chances in the same situation.
