The Creation story that scientist are opening up comes directly from the Earth and Universe itSelf. That's the standard . And it's way more accurate than an old and outdated Creation story that came from an ancient middle-eastern tribe of desert dwellers.
The Bible is not bogus or flawed. It can only be considered so if it is not true to its purpose. The only thing that science shows us is that the necessity of using the literal inerrancy assumption to understand that purpose may be bogus or flawed.

The systematic study of geology was begun in the 18th century by scientists--many of them Christian clergymen--who had set about looking for geological evidence of the flood. Much to their disappointment, they couldn't find any, have never found any. Nowadays, science proceeds without any reference to the Book of Genesis at all.
Science does not deny the existence of God or the value of the Bible as a divinely revealed religious text. The only thing that the findings of science cause difficulties about is the assumption that the Book of Genesis must and can only be a fully accurate historical account of our origins.
