Still waiting for just one
  • Politicians and fishing companies used to claim that there were so many fish in the sea that we could never have a significant impact on wild populations, and that the marine scientists, who were warning about fish stocks collapsing, didn't know what they were talking about...then wild fish stocks collapsed. For the last few decades, the effort put into fishing has been increasing exponetially, but the actual catch numbers have remained more or less steady.

  • Similar with whales.

  • Pollinators, including wild bees, are currently experiencing severe population declines. This is partly due to the use of neonicotinoid pesticides. Efforts have been made to ban them, but right-wing politicians usually make decisions based on who is waving the most money around, as opposed to acting with integrity and foresight.

Scientist also predicted it will get colder and colder.

Which is it?

You keep saying we have a history of waiting for a catastrophe until acting

You said you could give many examples

Still waiting for one from history. If you misspoke, that is ok, I’ve done it myself numerous times.

If you cannot cite one example, just say so.

The current mass extinction event is also "in history" so you've been answered.

Why not? I think that if you have any real problem saying "God will fix it" is about the same as simply ignoring it.

How do you suppose I should express such in idea in a nicer way?
How about being zealous and hopeful of the new earth?

The problem with that is the resulting apathy towards any attempts to improve Earth for humans and all life for that matter because it is just futile. I don’t believe the Revelation narrative and
I find the apathy towards, or worse the excitement for, the destruction of our environment frustrating.

If you choose not to believe revelation, you’re sadly entitled to that, but regardless of what you believe, it’s the truth and it will be done

I'm not sure the new earth factors in at all with how we treat the environment here today. I see no common theme presented, scriptural or whatever, that connects the two in any way.

Our reaction to global warming is thus a prudential judgement scenario.

Belief in Revelation does not condone human destructive behavior on earth.

If all Greenland ice melted (we are nowhere near that today), it would raise sea levels around the world on average about 23 feet, which is expected to only happen very gradually, giving rich enough countries time to protect certain cities where it's possible with towering sea walls vastly larger than anything anywhere today.

The wall can also be used to block the deluge of immigrants trying to escape increasingly difficult conditions in poor countries as the result of higher sea levels and areas rendered uninhabitable by global warming especially around equator zones.

Better yet, make it harder for immigrants from poor countries to get in. Ofc, I can't be serious because I myself live in a poor country. Someday, in worst case scenarios, I myself might need to do the unthinkable, smuggle myself to more habitable countries if only rich countries didn't made it impossibly hard for poor people from poor countries to get in. Kinda reminds me of the Pharisees in the context of spiritual salvation.

Neither is related to a climate catastrophe we have witnessed.

In a similar sense, one could argue that preventing another's death is senseless, since we pretty much all die here, and then continue on with life after death.

...Or that justice on earth is useless, since Jesus is to come again, to judge the living and the dead.

Did you miss all the news coverage of extreme snow in the Sierra Nevada? Seems like they do talk about wet cold And it is all part of the extreme weather patterns we are seeing resulting from overall heating of the earth.
I did hear the Donner Party was trapped in the early heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada.

And other data points do not.
I did not type "data points". I typed data and there was a reason for that. You know full well why.
The ice caps did not melt by 2013
I'm still waiting to find out what scientists were predicting that the ice caps would melt by 2013.

I've done some actual reading on this subject, so I know that an "ice free" Arctic doesn't mean zero ice. I means when there's less than 1,000,000 km2 of ice. There's also the fact that Antarctica has an "ice cap" as well, but it's an ice sheet since it's on land and not an accumulation of sea ice and there were no predictions for it to completely melt by 2013.
We did not experience an ice age in 2000
Technically we did and I explained why in post #78, but I know what you mean so I'll ask - what scientists were predicting an ice age in 2000?
And we don’t experience the hottest days because five months ago we had the coldest days on record.
"Weather" isn't climate. The temperature where hislegacy is on any given day does not change the patterns we're seeing with the climate.
You are free to believe...
My conclusion are based on facts and data. No belief is involved.

That requires that I believe God will come down and fix our problems for us.

Even if I did believe that I would still consider the sentiment that we can trash the earth as God was going to fix it anyway completely irresponsible. I would instead consider the Earth a miraculous gift that deserves our respect and care and take it upon myself to work for it's betterment.

Humanity has ONE planet where we can live, we don't need ideologies that the Gods will gift us another.

Have you researched or read anything of an opposing position based on data?

It is out there.
