I'm not one to say the teen is in the right to drive away from a police stop. If you're deliberately avoid a police stop there is a high chance you have something to hide. Not saying shooting the teen is justifiable either. There are enough lack of intelligence on both parties to bake an ID-Ten-T (l33t talk) cake.

But nothing takes that cake to the next level like Macron. Blaming video games! Gotta look out for those GTA & Postal enthusiasts!

I think it's a vestige of the French Revolution.

We got the 2nd Amendment out of ours. They got the right to riot a certain number of days a year.

Granted, though, their riots are not usually violent.

The French Revolution and what followed was another level of brutal. I do think they have a history of getting extreme when it comes to reacting against government authority.

Yes they had some rioting earlier this year as well when Macron raised (or tried to?) the retirement age from 62 to 64 unilaterally.
This is another meaning to “voting with your feet”: Americans have forgotten this.

Actually I don't really care for the riots. I have seen too many of them. And the many of them are nothing more than acts of terror. Opportunists who use the current issue to destroy. I'm not here to divert anything. I'm not here to support the rioters. In fact I'm not in favor of them acting like terrorists in a city where so many innocent people call home.

I'm only here to point of out the absurdity of politicians blaming video games. Macron just blurt something without merit. Are they any proof of video games influencing the things happening now? Is there a manifesto from any rioters proclaiming video games as their inspirations? Non.

As a person who likes playing video games, I see this kind of politicians as potential challenge to gaming independence. Politicians shouldn't have the moral right to tell any game developer what is acceptable to be part of a game. Game comes in many forms and touches many different aspects of life. A game with violent gameplay can actually tell a story about the merit of peace.

There would be 2 critical questions to answer to get to the bottom of it:

1) Is the paid time off portion true? (I've not yet seen an official source confirming the details of that)

2) Do said "demonstrations" involve injuring over 700 police officers, damaging over 1,000 buildings, lighting over 800 fires, and physically injuring a mayor's wife and child?


But, if the answer to both of these questions is "yes"...then it would seem that people are, in effect, getting paid time off to riot.

Yeah I’d say you are old fashioned judging by your post because common sense isn’t as common anymore. How else would they be able to use those paid days off for rioting if they’re not rioting?

It's absurd for all the blaming going on today. When is the last time any high-profile person admit he was wrong? Growing up I watched, Leave It to Beaver, Bonanza, John Wayne, and even Disney on Sunday evenings and none of these gave me any thought of harming my neighbor. We had guns at school and we also respected their property. As media became more violent and dirty so has society. It's my observation after 50 years. Curious, how many parents sit down with their kids and remind them about good behavior when it comes to video games and movies? I remember in my day we had to watch what Dad watched while having dinner and it was the news. One day we were watching the news and some gays got abused on Westheimer in Houston. My dad used this as a teaching lesson and told me to be careful because there are two things gays like men and fighting. He had an experience in the Army where he and his buddies damn near didn't get out bathroom alive trying to roll some gays. This dispelled any notion of me trying to get easy pot money on Wethiemer. Then I think of today and with every person meidiaized individually, we are unable to have conversations with millennials. Peace.

The paid time off for demonstrations is a labor benefit, like paid maternity leave in the US. Like paid maternity leave, it's specified for demonstrations.

But, if the answer to both of these questions is "yes"...then it would seem that people are, in effect, getting paid time off to riot.

If the demonstration turns into a riot, they still got the time off.
