  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why did McCarthy Give Tucker Carlson Exclusive Access to J6 Footage?

They have video of somebody who's face is covered on the bottom by a mask and obscured on top by a hood. They have the devices, but if this person hadn't made them before that doesn't tell them much. If they even have DNA, which we don't know for sure, that doesn't do any good if he's not already in a database. The largest DNA database in the US only has about 9 million people in it. Our population is well over 330 million, so less then 3% of all people in the US is in that database. I'm sure they are still looking for him, but they really don't have much to go on. Contrast this to the 1000 people who either were caught clearly on camera or bragged on social media about what they did. It's not an apples to apples comparison.
It’s a matter of what there priorities are most likely.

Ray Epps doesn't have to be "made a thing" ... The FBI and the Democrats are trying to cover the fact that he was "the thing"...
No, just no. Ray Epps was certainly part of the "let's go in the Capitol and stop the steal" crowd. He was not, however, not part of the "and we'll beat, bear spray and spear police in order to do so crowd". He was flapping his yap just like a lot of people were on the 5th and the morning of the 6th, but he didn't attack any police, he didn't enter the building and he didn't obstruct official proceedings. He has been investigated and cleared.

I'm sorry that inconvenient truth isn't good enough for the tin foil hat crowd who think that he HAS TO BE the scapegoat.
Even the supposedly darning video where he goes up to a guy and whispers in his ear right before he attacks the fence isn't what the liars on YouTube are telling you. Epps didn't tell him to attack. He told him to take it easy because the police were just doing their jobs.
According to the Times, Mr Samsel was questioned by the FBI and fully corroborated Mr Epps' version of events.
“He came up to me and he said, ‘Dude’ — his entire words were, ‘Relax, the cops are doing their job,’” Mr Samsel told investigators.

No matter how hard you guys try to make him a thing, like fetch, it's not going to happen.
He was the instigator..
I love this nonsense the best. You're basically saying that over 1000 red hats - who were only there to walk arm in arm chanting upbeat slogans and singing Kumbaya - suddenly were thrown into a rage just because they hear Svengali Epps speak for 5 minutes. Some of them even travelled back in time, went home and brought body armor, baseball bats, bear spray and zip ties ONLY because they heard Svengali Epps speak for 5 minutes.

The whole silly argument is based on a tacit claim that 1000+ Donald fans were so weak willed that hearing Epps speak for 5 minutes made them attack the Capitol when they had no plans of doing so. It's also completely debunked by the fact that NOT A SINGLE rioter has used "Ray Epps made me do it" as a defense in their trial.

It's silly and frankly embarrassing for anyone making this claim.

He made himself a thing with his actions that day, and then bragging about it since. Why others sit in prison while he goes free is a question people would like an answer to.
What actions? Saying people should peacefully enter the Capitol? Getting cold feet when he saw it had turned violent? Trying to stop Ryan Samsel from attacking the police lines? Ray Epps did the same as 3-4,000 others who went to the Capitol did and ALL of them are home right now because they didn't attack police or the Capitol.

See my response to Jack if you need details on what actually happened with him.

Wow, I just looked this up. didn't know about this.
Let me guess, you watched a YouTube video and the narrator told you what to believe? I bet you even saw the video where he whispered into Ryan Samsel's ear right before the latter attacked the Capitol and that proves he, alone, caused 1000+ red hats to suddenly get violent and attack the Capitol.

Not to mention all those Capitol police officers who were seen assisting the protesters (or possibly setting them up). Videos were shown early on where an officer was seen moving barricades away and waving people to come on in. I posted the video in the past, only to be told, "But that's just one cop! He doesn't represent all the Capitol police!".
More than that, the initial claims were bogus. The officer in question isn't waving the terrorists in, since they already have breached the fences. He's waving for his fellow officers to fall back as shown by a 14 second video from an alternate angle.
I still don't get the point you folks think you're making with these 2 and 3 second random bits of video. Do you seriously think it negates the hundreds of hours of video of terrorists fighting with police? The hundreds of hours of them kicking at doors and smashing windows? Does all that video just disappear because some random officer moved his arm in a certain way?

Now that the rest of the previously hidden videos are now released, we see that at least a dozen more were doing the same thing inside the building, waving them through doors, and even opening the doors for the people to walk through. It looked like it was a guided tour, just as a certain Congressman once was criticized for pointing out.
Literally none of that happened. That is Tucker's deceptive editing and lies from a master propagandist. The officers were trying to get the terrorists to leave the building. They were asking them to go and every time they refused, that was more evidence of their violating the law.
How much more evidence in these videos will be revealed--assuming biden and his people don't succeed in keeping the free Press from doing its job?
Oh yeah, President Biden (with a capital B by the way) and "his people" (Ooooo! Scary!) are going to go down to Fox and rip the thumb drives out of Tucker's staff's computers. Give us all a break with that nonsense. This was likely Tucker's strongest hand to play and it was the same, tired old Conservisphere tropes that we've all seen again and again - Epps, Chansley and Officer Sicknick wasn't murdered in the Capitol on Jan 6th which no one claimed.

Difficult to keep these up to speed of what happened and what didn't huh?
Kind of funny coming from folks who think President Obama was born in Kenya and there was massive fraud in the 2020 Presidential election which Donald actually won.

If the Capital Police hold the door open for you it shouldn’t be illegal and it’s no problem if you sneak in and remain unlawfully as long as you’re Stephen Colbert’s camera man and crew.
They didn't. So no problem.
Which official proceeding were the Colbert people trying to halt?
It's hilarious that Colbert is being mentioned. On Twitter I've made a meme which has Bob Smigel and Triumph in one panel, the terrorists attacking the police in another and a final panel with Pam from The Office saying "it's the same picture".

I’m interested in debunking it because it’s not true.

I haven't seen anyone propagating any "Sicknick injured by fire extinguisher" naratives in 25+ months.

Is tucker claiming that "the left" or "the dems" or "the antifa" are pushing such a narrative online? Did he say something about Sicknick being hit on the head with a fire extinguisher or other object on Monday?

I suspect it was because he knew the CNNs and MSMBCs of the world would do what their Democrat bosses did... hide the footage that does not support their narrative. Those who withheld the footage during the trials should be impeached, tried, and even jailed for their corruption.
Are you not reading what is being said? Footage of someone not doing anything at one point in time does not cancel out the footage of them breaking the law at another time. If you have a video of Jack Ruby killing Oswald and you see the shooting live, he admits to doing it and it's seen by millions then showing another video of him strolling around the local streets at some point and helping an old lady across the road does not mean he is therefore innocent.

I mean, really...what is there in this that you don't understand?

I’m not an apologist for Carlson. You don’t seem to understand it’s the fact that they reported it that is the problem. January 6th was bad enough there was no need to exaggerate. Like this for example:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed on Sunday that "almost 10" people died from the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, an inflated estimate that apparently includes those not killed directly during the mayhem.

The New York Democrat said the "terror attack" left 138 injured and "almost 10 dead" despite the fact that only one death was directly caused by the insurrection.
"Any member of Congress who helped plot a terrorist attack on our nation’s capitol must be expelled," she tweeted. "This was a terror attack. 138 injured, almost 10 dead. Those responsible remain a danger to our democracy, our country, and human life in the vicinity of our Capitol and beyond."
AOC SENDS TIPS FOR DEALING WITH BURNOUT IN FUNDRAISING EMAIL
The only death directly caused by the Capitol riot was that of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by an officer inside the Capitol. Babbitt, 35, was a former Air Force veteran who visited the Capitol to support former President Donald Trump. Ocasio-Cortez's estimate likely referred to the deaths of Trump supporters Kevin Greeson, 55, and Benjamin Phillips, 50, both of whom died of heart problems, or "hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease," and their deaths were deemed "natural."
Ocasio-Cortez was also likely including the deaths of Rosanne Boyland, 34, whose "accidental" death was precipitated by "acute amphetamine intoxication," or drug use, and Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, whose "cause of death" on Jan. 7 was "acute brainstem and cerebellar infarcts due to acute basilar artery thrombosis," or a stroke, and "manner of death" was "natural," according to the chief medical examiner for Washington, D.C.

On Monday, a handful of GOP politicians lashed out at a report accusing them of involvement in planning the details of rallies and electoral certification objection on Jan. 6 ahead of the riot at the Capitol building, either personally or through staff. Democrats have accused their Republican counterparts of culpability, with Ocasio-Cortez alleging that Sen. Ted Cruz "almost had me murdered" by supporting the objection to the certification of President Joe Biden's victory.
The left-wing politician previously said she was "in therapy" due to the "trauma" of the Jan. 6 riot.

(I'll leave in the picture of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez as she's rather pretty.)

Good to see the thread as moved on from 'Exculpatory evidence was hidden!' to 'Hey, some people exaggerated the number of people that died'.

Again, with which nobody has or is likely to argue against.

As if CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and especially MSNBC don’t do the same thing?
Whenever you can show us text messages of host for programs on those networks admitting they didn't believe a word of the things their guests were sayin or the story they were weaving; or if there's one where Rachel Maddow says she hates President Biden passionately, all while supporting his narratives in air, then we can address your whataboutism.
You attribute the false narrative of a Police Officer being beaten to death by a fire extinguisher to an innocent mistake,
Actually it was based on the fog of war, and "reporting based on facts at the time" isn't "narrative. I find this complaint quite ironic given that the entire Conservisphere, despite being REALLY WORRIED ABOUT ACCURACY spread the "Paul Pelosi was involved in a gay lovers spat" for weeks after the event and many still claim that's actually what happened.
Remember Dan Rather? Brian Williams?
Hey I get it. I wouldn't want to try and defend the fact that Tucker admits in private he doesn't believe things he says on air. I'd try and toss out red herrings too. The problem is both of those men, owned up to and faced consequences for what they did. Tucker was instead rewarded by McCarthy would solo, unfettered access to security secrets of our national Capitol.
