  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I realize that I'm stretching the boundaries for some people, but consider these hypotheticals:

1) You are alone at a pool, or pond, or lake, or creek.
No one is around, and no one is likely to appear.
You are not in view of the public.
It's a hot day and you would like to swim, but you have no swimsuit with you.
... would you consider swimming there nude?

In each case, how does Christianity influence your decision?
Very soon after we were married this is exactly how I introduced my wife to skinny-dipping (it was a lake far in the woods)! It wasn't planned, it just made practical sense! She absolutely loved it and was hopelessly hooked!

Christianity had nothing to do with it.

I personally don't think Jesus would have a problem with nudity.
In John 13 He was naked or essentially naked when He washed the disciples' feet.

Interesting thread. Nudity in itself is not sinful. Lust is sinful - the hiding of the body only adds to the mystery and seems to confuse people. When we look back the garden of Eden, God did not say you are naked, in fact he asked "who told you you were naked" Adam covered himself in shame, God made a concession and made man clothes, not a command. When God made man in his image and saw that his creation was good, we were naked . That is how we were meant to me. Being nude as a Christian is not shameful or sexual but natural and God given. When I am out in nature on a trail, I am nude and praying and feel one with God and creation. To see this as something perverse says more about you and you should pray through it.
I myself am comfortable nude in front of family and friends, I have nudist and textile Christian friends, and nudist and textile non Christian friends. We all love, respect and accept each other. I don't make a big deal about it and that makes those around me not make a big deal about it either. There is the added benefit of better body image, better health and general feeling of well being. I don't think this is confidential but taste of what we could have experienced in Eden. There is also more honesty, if you have ever spoken to a nudist you might be struck by the genuineness of them. Of course if I know it would offend or upset someone I would careful. I have however grown much more as a christian since I embraced nudism, but I do know it's not for everyone. If you are a Christian and think it's all a bit weird, I would suggest you talk to some Christian nudists and you will soon see we are just like anyone else.

i hope this is not being judgemental but i have never met any nudists who were Christians, i think it's ok as long as you & your wife are married or if you live with a group that practises that, it does sound kind of strange though

I don't think there is anything particularly not-Christian about going around nude. Clothes are not a religious matter but a practical matter, especially in colder climates. If folks want to take off all their clothes in warm climates- and we don't have to stand close to each other in line -then, whatever. Personally, I like the fact that we wear clothes. The body, in general, is beautiful, but I don't want to look at bodies while I eat because they ain't always that beautiful, mine being no exception.

In front of your wife.

…That’s it. End of story. Not difficult.

Next thread.

Then what do you think of Isaiah prophesying to Israel in Jerusalem naked for 3 years?

They desire sexual liberation and sodomy with each other, burning with lust and all manner of ungodliness

That's a projection, if anything. I think a lot of nudists just like to go naked. I don't have that desire, but I don't think it's fair to attribute more to it than that. Have you read this thread? Some people, Christians included, simply like to go naked. Whatever.

This may be strange to most people, but I would almost always rather be completely nude, especially in nature. I'm 27 and I've been somewhat of a closet nudist for the last 10 years of my life. Theres nothing sexual about it for me, it just makes me feel happy and free. I'm never naked in front of anyone who is offended by it. It's usually just my wife and close friends who aren't bothered by nudity.

My question is, do you think there's something wrong with me? Is this sinful behavior, or do you find nothing wrong with it? Thanks.

Joel
Agreed. I usually feel more comfortable wearing fewer clothes.

Just remember, we're all born naked.

Isn't genesis part of your bible?

I'm curious about this question. Keep in mind, they were naked the whole time, but for some reason began to feel shame for it. That tells me it was a matter of perception and not that there was anything inherently wrong about their being naked.

Then nudity in the movies should never be rated X... if there's nothing inherently wrong with it. If there was a talking snake in the garden, maybe he was the reason to get covered up?

It's a cultural norm. There are cultures to this day where people go naked and they are not ashamed; think about it.

I don't want to think about it... if it's all the same to you.

I like to be nude at home, especially in
our humid tropical summer.
Why not? Like it's a big deal.
