  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Glad to see Herschel Walker taking the lead in the Georgia Senate race. He undoubtedly will need a lot of help... but that is what aids are for.
He needs a lot of help alright. Never have I seen someone so obviously unqualified run for public office

...a sad descent from the state that gave us Sen Sam Nunn. Of course, GA isn't alone....

Looks like the red wave turned out to be more of a shallow, purplish puddle. This was not the repudiation of Biden and the Democrat’s policies that the right had been hoping for and promising to deliver. Lots of soul searching needs to happen in both parties before ‘24 as to how we got here, but it likely won’t.

I remember William F. Buckley Jr. While I may not share his views, at least the man could string words together into coherent thoughts. Cannot say that for Herschel Walker.

But do they have the courage to reject him for the nomination? Deep down, the GOP can't seem to stand Trump, but he has enough public support that they rarely criticize him on camera.

The GOP doesn't have superdelegates so the field is always open. Trump managed to win because Republicans were tired of the establishment. So, they took a crapshot and got a dumpster fire.

It's not just that the GOP has become toxic. American society has become toxic. There is little love happening in the public sphere. It's all about $$$ and grievance.

Its very much a repudiation of trumps candidates, and very much strengthens Desantis as the republican presidential nominee.

It is a referendum on Trump - he is obviously so widely hated from both parties it is time for him to step away and make room for new blood.

The Georgia Senate Seat: A Prediction based on the following:

I've found this Georgia site with election results:
https://results.enr.clarityelections.com/GA/115465/web.307039/#/summary

At the moment, we have the following:

Candidate Votes Percentage
Walker: 1,902,356 48.52%
Warnock: 1,937,198 49.41%
Oliver: 80,996 2.07%
Total Counted: 3,920,550

On the right side, it states there were 3,949,438 ballots cast. 3,949,438 - 3,920,550 = 28,888 ballots to count.

Warnock is in the lead. Should every uncounted vote be for him, he would get 1,937,198 + 28,888 = 1,966,8086. 1,966,086 / 3,949,438 = 0.4978. That's 49.78%

Georgia requires winning candidates to receive over 50% of the vote, and a run-off election between the top two. Therefore, there will be a run-off election between Walker and Warnock.

What's struck me as odd is that I don't think any news outlet has projected a run-off election yet.

And...that's all I have here. My guess is the draw in Georgia was the Kemp / Abrams election. Now that it's settled, how many will vote in a run-off? Don't know. Nor can we assume everyone who voted for the third party candidate will vote for Walker or Warnock.

If DeSantis were wise, he would switch his politics to an old-fashioned, pre-MAGA Republican, and govern according to centrist issues and not the culture war and Christian nationalism. Trump has treated him like he's nothing. There is nothing more to be gained by pandering to his base. It's best to leave Trump's legacy in the past.

Wow, I am encouraged to see the election has opened people's eyes so they can see again. I totally agree with your post. And I do appreciate your honesty.

Everyone in his right mind expected a runoff in Georgia. We may not know who controls the senate for another month.

It most likely would not have mattered anyway. As I previously stated, f John Fetterman can win a senate seat, then anyone can! I am absolutely appalled right now! I believe that we were at a critical cross road going into this election and now I lost all hope for America after seeing the overall results of the election. It absolutely blows my mind to see just how far America has fallen. :(
Relax, it’s just politics.
