  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I voted straight Republican. Last I checked it looks like we may take majority in Congress.
I am looking forward to see what happens after midnight to those figures. I guess I'm a bit skittish after the turnover after midnight back in the 2020 election.

We'll see.

I've read if the GOP takes the House they'll move to Impeach Biden. A much more opportune option if Republicans take the Senate too.

Though I'd hope they would consider if they take Biden out, Harris takes over.

That's a depressing thought not even cheesecake can remedy.

Some of us make sacrifices. Sometimes we need to take a step backwards to move two steps forward.

In hindsight I should have made this move before I got so heavily invested in my home state.

To have sacrifices, you have to have wealth to sacrifice in the first place.

I didn't have any wealth when some of my friends told me of better horizons. I could have hitch hiked if I needed to. I didn't need to. I had friends who were traveling to these places. I should have listened.

With an even split in the Senate, there are nowhere near the votes for conviction.

It doesn't appear at this time that the red wave happened. We may have picked up a few seats in the house, but the Senate is still up for grabs. Not the red wave I was expecting. Just hope we get to a majority in the house and the Senate even if slim.

Then on to 2024.

Man I hope they don't go after Biden. It will look like sour grapes. They need to focus on doing something about the economy. Not using their power to go after Biden. Unless we get a majority in the Senate they can't get rid of Biden anyway so what's the point.

And Harris is a dumpster fire. No, leave h there and just ride it out. Work on doing what you can to helped the American people and show them what you can do if given the presidency.

Calling it a red trickle would be extremely kind.

Well, I did my part and voted against DeSantis and every other Republican in the state.

Four more years of misery!
No only two more years of misery and the Republicans will do what they can to mitigate it during that two years.

And what exactly will they do? Lower taxes for the rich, again? Try to gut ACA, again? Gut social security, again?

You missed a couple of Dem talking points, they may not be true but they just keep repeating them until some people accept them as facts without bothering to educated themselves

Ron DeSantis (R) takes Florida. He also takes Dade county, which has not bee taken by a Republican governor in 20 years.
Two of my democratic relatives live in Dade county; they are not Latinos.

You must have mistaken what I said. It's misery because the same Republicans that were in office here in Florida won again.

So what the Republicans do will be misery for those who voted for them to lose their seats.

I've had enough misery already under the Democrats and don't need another two years of it! Ever since 2020 it's like America has entered the Twilight Zone.

Democrat John Fetterman defeats Dr. Mehmet Oz, flips Pennsylvania Senate seat

Unbelievable! Such a disappointing and devastating result in Pennsylvania. If John Fetterman can win a senate seat, then anyone can! Hard to believe the people of Pennsylvania would vote for poverty, despair, and violent crime on themselves. Just like the people of New York, they are gluttons for punishment! Another sign of the continued moral decay and decline of America. :( I am absolutely sick to my stomach!!!!! America has lost it's way and just like Rome it will eventually fall and fall hard!

Given Biden's numbers, the Republicans should have had a 2010-like victory.

Yes. The predictions of a Republican "Red Wave" were simply wrong. Given the current economic conditions, the Republicans should have knocked it out of the park. As I write this, every one of the election-denying candidates are losing in Arizona (Senate, Governor, AG and Sec of State). If this holds, it will be a victory for our Democratic Republic and a resounding defeat of Trump and his election denying candidates. My confidence in the American voter is somewhat restored.

Republicans in Pennsylvania should try something different next time. Like nominating a good conservative candidate.

Yes, don't nominate a TV supplement-pushing "Dr" from Jersey....nor an election denying nationalist from the backwoods...
