  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In Rebuke to West, OPEC and Russia Aim to Raise Oil Prices With Big Supply Cut

Why can't we just forget about OPEC, and do our own thing? I'm tired of paying 6 to 7 dollars a gallon.

My state has the resources to be entirely self-sufficient. Texas and Wyoming probably produce close to enough to supply the country. Let's do it! Let's drop OPEC today! I'm done with them!

How about a US / Canadian alliance? Maybe Trump would have enough courage to start probing such a proposition. We need someone to start pushing buttons again.

...I want some off the hinge politician to start making wild changes, and buck the entire oil industry.

It ain't the oil industry, it's the progressive leftists......

No, it really is OPEC. They're horrible. We should not be relying on Russia and Islamic terrorists for our oil.

Which is where the progressive leftists have forced this country......to go to them and beg for oil when we have more than enough. But the progressive leftists almost threaten riots if we go that direction.

The democrats dont want to do anything to risk losing the progressive vote. The democrats will throw Americans under to bus to stay in power. At the same time, they look the American people in the eye and say theyre doing everything that can be done to keep prices low. I'm thinking that satan has a spell on some people to make them believe the lies coming from the mouths of democrats. I mean, how can people believe what they say, the democrats, when theyre obviously lieing.

I mean, with a 2% cut in oil production, we might see 8 or 9 dollars a gallon by Christmas.

...It's gone too far. A radical change needs to occur immediately.
I mean what would you suggest?

An American / Canadian alliance. Call it the North American Oil Alliance NAOA. Gather politicians from both countries, and start issuing permits to start pumping the oil. None of the oil would be allowed to be exported from North America to anywhere, and we would not buy anything from OPEC, ever again.

Build both new rail, and new pipelines, as we go. Initially it can start by tanker trucks.

The icing on the cake is that, we know how much oil is in the ground in North America. And so we only have that allotted amount of time to produce oil, after burning our bridges with OPEC, until we have to go electric.

So it speeds up the transition process that much. And forces it actually. So ultimately, it really is a green proposition.

I suspect that there is much undiscovered oil beneath the earth. A few years ago, in the Midland\Odessa, TX. area, a large lake of oil was discovered.

It does seem unethical that during this crisis in Ukraine and subsequent reduction in Russian oil, that OPEC would seize this opportunity to raise prices. There must be something beyond what we are told going on. I do know that we sell more arms to Saudi Arabia than any other nation. Maybe we don't want to lose that income source, by standing up to them?

Cut off exports of Freon to OPEC countries. See how they do without air conditioning. Europe may freeze this winter, but these guys should MELT.

Actually I do think it is all a progressive plot to green the world and that doesn't happen without $10 a gallon gas.

$8 per gallon is only a few cents more than the current fuel price in Australia right now, and I still haven't seen Mad Max when I pop down to Coles for some groceries....

Even if it does get that high, I'm sure you'll survive.

Yes, but $8 U.S. is over $12 Australian. It starts to make it very hard on people who don't earn much to begin with.
Maybe you guys should put some money into developing your public transportation.

The auto and oil industries will make sure that doesn’t happen.
