Is there a place in this militia for me, a dirty camper?

Well why not. They have remote controlled weapons platforms of all kinds now. Get your tracked robot with machine gun properly camouflaged and leave it then you can just keep note on the video feed to get few guys when they show up before they blow the platform up.

Your side loses some steel and circuits while Russia loses decades of labor, years of education and care, possible future citizen production and the like.

Modern warfare. Get killed by a gamer when trying to get food on the table.

After all is said and done, your paintball experience means nothing because the teachers won't have it...and you, if anyone, should realize what that means for them.
The poster you quoted has gone very quiet since I pointed out to him that this thread is actually about requiring less training from teachers.

My personal guess is that the cognitive bias of a pro-gun bill that goes against his personal life experience has made his head explode.

I could be wrong.

I spoke earlier about that slippery slope. It's the reason the military does not want permission to use torture. Once it's been permitted, it will become expected, then once expected, it will become mandated.

The same thing will happen with arming teachers. First it will be permitted. After the next school shooting, it will become expected. Finally, it will become mandated.
and then it will be up to the teachers to either comply or leave. Hopefully this will not happen as really other than police and military no one should be required to carry on the job. Not every one is comfortable with guns does not mean that they do not support the econd amendment, but some people feel uncomfortable PERSONALLY carrying a gun.

As a parent, do I have a right to know if my child is class with a teacher who is armed? Do I have the opportunity to opt if I disapprove of that?
that would likely be on the school district as to whether they would allow that ( unless one way or another is written into the law. I would think that teachers would be required to let some people in the school know, but that is not the same as being required to let the parents know. It may depend on how many teachers are armed and how big the school is along with how many parents wished to opt out. For example, my sister teaches in a public school ( not in the state in question, but like last year there were six in her grade level ( 3rd grade) If you had a situation where more parents opted out than there were unarmed teachers to teach ( there are laws as to how many students may be in each class that varies by grade level. These laws are usually on the state level). that would not work ( I would not see that happening but if it did that could be an issue. Next year, she will be moving to sixth grade where there are say two teachers that teach each subject maybe three. Well, this would not be likely to happen especially in bigger districts, but say both of the teachers in a particular subject wanted to be armed. At this point the parents options would be to accept that, move either within the district or not (to be zoned for a different school) or pull their children out completely and either homeschool or go private. Some districts will allow people out of zone/district to pay to attend that school as well, but that still would involve paying even though it may be a public school.

So rather than address the actual problem of a mentally unstable 18 year old buying a semi automatic assualt weapon over the counter, we're now at the point of saying 'Well, at least it was only one or two classrooms of kids that were massacred'.

Your so full of false narratives that’s all you do one right after the other. Over and over you distort the facts, make false accusations and misrepresent what people say. All I’m repeatedly seeing from you is dishonesty. One minute your implying that teachers possessing guns are ineffective for protection in schools by point out one particular scenario where it would likely be ineffective and when I point out another scenario where it would be effective you twist that into a bold faced lie intentionally misrepresenting what I said and falsely accusing me of making statements or insinuations that were not even remotely close to anything I said. Congratulations you just discredited yourself by showing everyone here that you are incapable of maintaining an honest discussion.

My children have had some excellent teachers and some that were real ninnys who I hardly trusted with my children, much less for them to act with a lick of common sense if they were armed. It's stupid that we have to fortify our schools because we won't do anything about guns.

The research proving Samuel Marshal wrong and exposing his lies about his command and having led troops in battle begins on page 4.

The Secret Of The Soldiers Who Didn’t Shoot

Regarding this article:

Almost every rifle recovered at Gettysburg was fully loaded and no one knows why - We Are The Mighty

Most of the rifles recovered at Gettysburg had been either unfired or--importantly--were "double loaded," meaning they had misfired and erroneously reloaded, making them useless. That should not be unexpected, and the article goes on to explain much of it. The rifles that had misfired were either discarded on the field or got their owners killed. Or the owners got killed anyway by artillery or other means, and their rifles were dropped before they got close enough to be employed.

The soldiers who fired successfully retained their rifles...those were not found on the battlefield.

Guess which political party opposes red flag laws?
Why should I care which political party opposes something I support. I'm an independent voter. I vote for individual candidates, not party officiation.

Probably because the individuals you vote for are members of political parties... their affiliation often provides a snapshot as to the issues they support or oppose, as parties tend to frown on (at least) or oust (at worst) those who oppose the party line.

Yeah not to mention that many soldiers carried more than one musket to fend off a charge while they were reloading.

Ohio teachers can now legally carry firearms in the classroom, but TPS is opting out | wtol.com

"Thinking about our teachers, they already do enough and having that responsibility with limited training is not the way to produce a welcoming environment for anyone," said Sheena Barnes, the Vice President of TPS' Board of Education.
Barnes said the board reached this conclusion after talking to the Toledo community, members of TPD and especially their own teachers and students. Instead, Barnes wants teachers armed with more resources, not guns.
"Our teachers love our students as their own, and to put them in that position for any reason is unfair to them and DeWine should actually listen to teachers," Barnes said."

This whole thread is highlighting the tactic being used by those in tbe pro gun lobby to detract from solutions to the type of massacres that have taken place. To shift the discussion from entirely reasonable means to restrict access to wepons to people who obviously shouldn't be allowed anywhere near them to 'arm more people'. And in this case, teachers.

So who is next? Nurses? Carers at old people's homes? Ticket sellers at theatres? The guy who sells hot dogs at the ball game?

And you are falling for it hook, line and sinker. The blame for the next school shooting won't be laid at the door of the NRA. It won't be laid at the door of any congressman who rejects sensible gun controls. It will be laid at the blood soaked door of the next teacher who's kids have been blown apart.

Not having an honest discussion you say? People are afraid of having one. Misrepresentation? This whole smoke and mirrors distraction is itself misrepresentation. Those who have been elected to protect you are failing you. Are failing the families of those who are gunned down on a daily basis. Are failing the children. And all that is offered is 'thoughts and prayers'.

Armed citizens save lives every day.

Really? Care to name how many in the last decade? Can you compare that to how many times having guns around made things worse? What happens when you have a dozen idiots all planning to stop a badguy firing guns, who is the good guys and who is the badguy? It's a disaster just waiting to happen.

The United States and it's gun lust is sick. I agree with Jimmy Fallon, school shootings and rampant gun violence is no longer the politicians fault. It's your fault collectively for repeatedly voting the same people in, and for letting a small minority of gun nuts dominate the political landscape.
