• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Because they won't forgive people and release the bitterness that grows inside of them to the point it poisons their mind and reaches a level that can only lend itself to violence of which can lead to the ultimate violence as bitterness can open you to influence of demonic forces and once you start listening to these evil spirits they can talk you into hideous evil acts.

Freud would probably say it has something to do with repression... if you don't find a psychological "release valve" for your pent-up issues, sooner or later you're going to pop your cork.

Even Jesus of Nazareth, who practiced and preached forgiveness and benevolence, lost his temper when he saw what the priests and moneychangers had done to "His" Temple...

Of course, not everyone does it violently -- some people withdraw into depression, some go on a bender, but others... go postal.

Why do people go postal?

Maybe they haven't entered the 21st century and come to realize that we all can just 'text' each other now?

The value of "I" gets very very big and the value of "Thy" gets very very small
It's a little like Cain...

6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

They don't handle rejection well.

I’ve worked at the Post Office for 32 years and still have not gone postal. :D
I can take my cell phone into a lobby and, despite Poster 7, clear everyone behind the counter into the back room by just exercising my First Amendment right to record from publicly-accessible spaces.

Well depending on how you define postal one could say that Jesus went postal in the marketplace in the temple.

Not like they go postal today.

And what Jesus did was justified.

Who said Jesus wasn't justified?

And who said justification negates "going postal"?

Just because a space is publicly accessible doesn't mean it's public property. It can be private property, even if it is open to the public. Shopping centers are an example of this. And if it's private property, they are well within their right to say, "No video recording."

The First Amendment protects the right to gather information about what public officials do on public property, and specifically, a right to record matters of public interest. SOURCE

It's an important distinction that publicly accessible property is NOT the same thing as public property.

Why don't people tend to "go postal" in countries other than the USA?

Because no other nation fetishizes firearms like the US of A.
