The Romans would have left well enough alone. The rebel leaders were killing themselves and destroying the city, way before Rome came. The Messiah the Prince is Jesus. Jesus came once as the Messiah. Next He will come as the Prince. Verse 27 is a future event and not even 7 years. It is the week of the sounding of the 7th Trumpet. See Revelation 10:7. The days of the sound of the 7th Trumpet is the final week of time of the final harvest where Jesus the Prince along with the angels have already been on earth gathering the final harvest. The 7th Trumpet is the confirmation of the Atonement of the Cross. It is the point where all nations are now brought under subjection. All who will be saved to enter the Millennium Kingdom are accounted for. Unless there are the gleanings. The gleanings are those who refuse the mark, by getting their head chopped off. If none of those humans are left, the week will not be split in half. The 7th Trumpet will end at the winepress of Revelation 14. Daniel's 70 weeks fulfilled. The Millennium will start with those promises made in Daniel 9. If some are left to reject the mark, then verse 27 will happen, to allow the 42 months given to Satan and the 3.5 years of utter desolation. Then many will be saved by getting their heads chopped off. After Armageddon they are resurrected."the people of the prince who shall come shall destroy the city and sanctuary"
Are you saying that because "Romans" is not directly spelled out in the text, as your reason for disagreement?
History is plain that is was the Romans who destroyed destroyed the city and sanctuary.
Daniel 9 is not about the Romans nor 70AD. It is about the 483 years, Messiah, and then the Prince at the Second Coming. Christ will be on earth to finish the last half of the 70th week in person, with His angels. That last half of the 70th week is getting shorter and shorter, as Jesus claimed.
