  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I’m against drunk driving, I tell people not to do it and would never do it myself. Its just awful that people get thrown in jail for it we should talk to them about it and persuaded them to stop.
Not the same thing as I have repeatedly pointed out. And we don't just send drunks home to sober up do we.

What do you propose with limited resources?
I don't know. But there are professionals in the industry that may have a solution if we press them to give us one. Why are you against trying to find a solution so that we can treat everyone?

With how awful coercing them to change their behavior is we obviously should and then have a chat with them in the morning trying to reason with them. The tyranny must stop!

They are when they are causing others to not have access to care due out stripping out our resources and it’s all avoidable with a free vaccination.
I agree it is avoidable with a free vaccination. It is unethical though to force someone to put something in their body they do not want or to deny healthcare to them if they can treat them. If they cannot it is up to the healthcare professionals to decide who gets care and when. In the mean time we should be trying to find a solution to the problem that does not violate ethics or someone rights to make decisions regarding their own bodies.

They have been hiding the equipment and staff all along, they just haven’t been pressed hard enough. They are working the nursing staff 30 hours of mandatory overtime a week at my wife’s hospital because they need the extra money for the holidays.

Let them rot, it’s what they chose.

The unvaccinated are at fault in no small part for encouraging spread needlessly because of massive misinformation and disinformation, to say nothing of horrible education and willful ignorance about things that then are further compounded by egomaniacal individualism. No one's saying the people in question are doing it directly, but they're hosting this far more likely and also likely aren't taking precautions because they believe they don't need to.
You don't have a good grasp on the reality of the unvaccinated. Some are as you say but not the majority in my opinion.

Bull pucky, I want to solve it, but the unvaxxed anti vax nutbars aren't helping. This is the equivalent of blaming the parents when they've exhausted all efforts and their recalcitrant child still won't behave and has to be institutionalized. Are you going to say that the unvaxxed are not part of the problem or are you going to put all the responsibility on the vaccinated?

Either way, it's unconscionable and irrational, because it's trying to play both sides instead of admitting one group is not helping at all, they're digging the hole instead of filling it.
[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], Again I never said the unvaccinated are not contributing to the problem. I have repeatedly said that I want all to be vaccinated that can be. That is the solution.

You do realize that is exactly a reason some people are not treated right? ever try to get a liver transplant as a drinker, or a lung transplant as a smoker?
These are not equivalent in my opinion because we are asking them not to put something in their body. With Covid you are saying take this drug or we may not treat you.

What's it called when a question is asked which is actually a misleading summary of another person's posts?

It is great to have lofty idealized goals. But just as important back here in reality is a way to achieve them. What do you propose we do to connect your goal with the reality that some places are running out of health care resources?
I have repletely said I don't know. But I do know that there are people out there that do know if they are empowered to do so.

If a hospitals HVAC system is not working I can figure out how to fix it. I would not expect the doctors to come up with a solution, they are not experts in building HVAC systems. But unless they empower me to solve the problem I cannot solve it for them. So just because I don't have a solution to this problem does not mean I cannot press for a solution. All I see Biden doing is blaming the unvaccinated instead of leading to find a solution.

So you just ignored my last response and made a strawman of my position. Ok.

How dare he say that those responsible for the problem are at fault. Unconscionable.

It’s the position you posted, I’m sort you consider that position a straw man when others use it.

In my profession when there is a hard problem to solve I always ignore people that always have a reason not to solve it and just keep the status quo. When you do that the problem almost always get solved.

Does that usually conjure up equipment and personnel that did not previously exist? Does it reduce 18-48 month training programs to a matter of weeks?

Medications often have effects we don't know about initially. Why else do medicines get recalled?
ANYTHING medical has risks. This is true even if not doing anything is likely to result in near certain death. Not saying co-vid is that way but that is just the truth.

We should all be free to decide what is an acceptable risk for ourselves.
We are but there are consequences to that choice.
