  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That is 10k cases per day

That is 10k cases per day as opposed to 14k cases in 176 million people over the period of time the vaccine has been available. You might want to think about your chances of contracting covid a little more carefully.
I'm starting to worry I might not get a good answer to why I should conclude that vaccines are ineffective.

No, that's 10k cases over 7 days.

Cases | NC COVID-19
Oh, wait, I see. It was showing that the number of breakthrough cases was really small - the entire US had fewer breakthrough hospitalization over a 3 month period than a single state had cases over just a few days.

That passage doesn't prescribe the role of government. It's telling people to obey government, a position that you seem to mock in post 320.
It says it obey the government as far as the government is aligned with God. It’s government’s that do good, not evil. I’m sure you wouldn’t support Christians surrendering to the Taliban and face certain death.

Reformed baptist, presbyterian (how ever it is spelled), calvinist, whatever, I'm not interested in any "preacher" having power.

What is with you guys and theocracy? This is America, a nation with a secular government.
I never said anything about them having power.

No, everyone should be vaccinated to protect everyone in society.
Then everyone should submit to Christ so that they won’t spend eternity in hell. That’s much worse than Covid.

If the vaccinated still spread covid, then what "protection" are you speaking of?

That would be the 80% reduction in the spread that is well documented plus herd immunity. Or do you think immunologists are all lying to you and the past success against virus are all a fluke?

Obviously you don’t understand. But then again, many Christians don’t, either.

I understand that the Biblical view of government is directly at odds with the founders' view of government.

So... when we're expected to follow both the Bible and the founders, what happens when they irreconcilably disagree?

We get tyranny.

Except that the government -- all governments-- are allegedly instituted by God.

Taliban, schmaliban... the Romans were persecuting Christians; how were Christians expected to respond?

I think science is settled in that herd immunity can be achieved without a vaccine via natural immunity post-infection, yet people who have had covid are still told to get the vaccine. Fauci couldn't come up with an answer as to why. Fauci says to get the vaccine to reduce viral loads, yet we're talking about a virus with a 99.7% survivability rate for those under 65, and the covid deaths are not being calculated as causal, but merely correlary. Vaccines aren't slowing the spread, and therefore the blame on the unvaccinated is unwarranted. Want to stop the burdening on hospitals? Quit firing the staff.

We get tyranny.

Do we now?

Bible -- All governments derive their authority from God (Romans 13:1)

Founders -- governments derive their authority from the consent of the governed (Declaration of Independence)

Remind me again which one leads to tyranny?

They were expected to live good and godly lives, and be instrumental in the growth of Christ’s kingdom. That’s why there is no more Roman Empire.
