  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is sinning and confessing.

This is the person that runs to John 1:9 to try to get saved again.
This is the person that runs to John 1:9 to get there fellowship restored to God.

See that person?
They are laying again the foundation of repenting and confessing their SIN, because their faith is brokent and they are trying to resolve by confessing.... what is already resolved by the Blood Atonement.

Believers are supposed to get past this....as all this is dead works.

Confession isn’t mentioned anywhere in the entire chapter. Are we supposed to get past faith in God as well?

Dont let the word of God confuse you with Truth.
After all, you have your opinion, instead.

You are teaching some devout legalism there, bnr32fan.

Paul never teaches that....
He teaches the opposite..
He teaches that God "justifies the ungodly"

Jesus said """i came for the unrighteous."""
Never does He say...>"try to clean up and then i'll have you".

Paul teaches that we must Call on the Name of the Lord, to be saved, as a sinner.

Paul teaches that we are to repent from unbelief and turn to Christ by FAITH.

Oh really?

“But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Right here Paul is teaching the Ephesian believers not to sin or they will not have an inheritance in the kingdom of God.

No answer the question are we to set aside faith in God as well? Because that’s why your saying. We should set aside both confession and faith in God.

Not true; theology means knowledge of God and is impossible in the Christian faith without prayer. .

Theology comes from the Word of God, discerned correctly, or learned incorretly.
The Bible isn't theology.
Theology is the interpretation of the bible.
There are many, and regarding each denomination, they become "Doctrine" as per denomination.

the phrase blood atonement, I don’t think this theology is specifically Pauline but is rather Christian in general, .

Actually its 95% Paul, who talks about the Blood of Jesus.
Check Paul's epistles for an update on that reality.

The Gospel , which is peached as The blood atonement or , redemption through Christ's blood, or, "blood bought".....and so many more terms that define the "at-one-ment", begin caused, come to you from Paul.

When a "church" is not affiliated with Paul they talk about commandments and law and self effort, as "salvation", in general.

If a person is born again, then the "faith" issue, is resolved.
God has accepted their faith, or.. "faith is counted as Righteousness".

From there, Jesus takes their faith, as "Jesus, the author and finisher of our Faith". Hebrews 12:2
He does this by being in all the born again as their Salvation.

Meanwhile, God, completes the salvation of all the born again.

Philippians 1:6

Now notice... Jesus handles the faith, and God completes the Salvation, that was STARTED by God dying on the Cross, 2000 yrs ago.

See, when you go to the Cross, and you give God your faith, then He is faithful to complete your salvation that HE Provided as "the gift of Salvation".
And Christ in you, is the "finisher of your Faith".

This is "the gift of Salvation"

Its all of God and Chrsit.

What i teach, is Pauline Theology.
Paul received it from Jesus and that pre-dates your church history obsession.

No you only think that, there’s a 1500 year gap where no church taught your theology.

“if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.”

Jesus didn’t refer to the revelation Peter had received as the rock He just renamed Simon to Petros which literally means rock.

Jesus said "on this rock". He (not peter) will "build His Church".

The "rock" is Christ.

The jews and many believers stumble on this Rock.
This Rock is Christ the Redeemer, and "the gift of Salvation".

Notice "among the Saints".

See that word "Saint"?
That is how God sees all the born again.
And what Paul is describing ......is not that they will never be carnal, and do a work of the flesh, but that its so important that believers walk the walk, as this is our witness, in this world.

So, when a believer who is a Preacher "falls", then that causes the "world" to think....."oh, there went another one, see.......that junk is not real".

You witness matters, because each born again is the only CHRIST the world gets to see.
So, if our witness = our life is not pure, then the world sees Christianity as just one more gimmick.
One more false religion.

So that is what Paul is talking about.

So only preachers need to refrain from sin? Everyone else is free to sin all they want? Is that what Paul is teaching here?

Yes.
That faith is THE "renewed mind"........its not the first faith, that God accepted to save a person.

This verse is also connected to "dead faith" that James speaks about, which is a believer who is backslidden.

Paul teaches this term "castaway", and that is a Demas, who is born again, yet left discipleship behind because he wanted the world.

Paul's letters are my Theology.
They were written before your church fathers were born.

Not before Polycarp was born, he was a follower of John. So you don’t see a problem with a complete absence of your theology for 1500 years? You don’t see a problem with Christ’s plan to spread the gospel to all nations failing for 1500 years?

God will only complete our salvation if we continue in our faith.

God has already completed His salvation on the Cross, 2000 yrs ago.

Why do you continue to try to make one up for yourself?

Listen....A person get's GOD Salvation, as "the Gift of Salvation", when they "call on the name of Jesus and you shall BE Saved".

Notice the "be"? That is God doing it.
Not you doing it.

Faith is not the Savior.
Faith didnt hang on the Cross.
God is the SAVIOR, who accepts you faith one time, to give you the new Birth.
That is Salvation occurring.
Being BORN AGAIN, is proof Salvation has occurred.
If you are not born again you are not saved.
Water does not cause Salvation.
