Interesting. I'm still not sure how we can identify the birds in order to straighten out the criteria to determine what belongs to which birds, but I do personally believe they are fine. We didn't eat them for a while...I was glad to get them back.Yes, indeed, they are mentioned, along with every other specie, known and unknown, for God describes them to us, solely by simple criteria, to determine if they are for consumption or not.
For example, fish must have the combination of fins and scales in order for them to qualify as clean for consumption. Through the traditions of men, however, it's been added, not by God, but men, that bottom feeders are unclean as well; but this is not true: the only criteria for determination of cleanliness for consumption is whether or not they have the combination of fins and scales, period.
This is also the case for land animals, they must have the combination of cloven hoof and rumination: some key animals are given as examples, such as swine, for they have cloven feet, but do not ruminate, and the hare, for it ruminates, but does not have a cloven foot, etc.
Fowl also have a simple criteria: any that dwell in the water are unclean, and any that go on four (this is referring to their toes, like the cattle must split the hoof, birds must fly if they go on four toes), yet do not fly, are unclean: therefore, large birds, such as the ostrich, which go on two, are indeed clean. --pretty cool about the ostrich, cause that thing is a huge meat bird, along with the cassowary, etc.
Special fowl are mentioned, by categories, such as raptors, ravens, owls, etc.: they are all unclean, and easy to distinguish from other kinds of fowl, especially since God describes them generally, by kind, with examples, so that there can be no confusion.
Interestingly, chickens have been the subject of controversy amongst those who are seeking to understand, this is because of the work of man, who has inbred the chicken to such a degree, as to cause harm to it's physical attributes, namely, flying: thus, most people usually see chickens that don't fly; but that is far from the truth, they do fly, and so do turkeys, lol. (same category, by the way.)
There is much to say about the simplicity found in these commands, and how man, has through tradition, and translation, muddled the meaning of much of what is said.
Feel free to ask away.
Godspeed.
I mean specifically what I said. (I can't imagine why you would immediately attempt to alter such a simple statement...)
Did you not know, that God also gave laws to Adam, and Noah, and Abraham?
We don't refer to these as the laws of Adam, nor the laws of Noah, nor even the laws of Abraham, but the laws of God; for none are of Adam, nor Noah, nor Abraham, but God's, solely.
You're playing a game, I can see that now: you are pretending, that if the scriptures do not list the punishment of a sin right next to the sin, that that sin goes without punishment--you want others to believe this too--thus your pretense has become an actual belief, a presupposition to your question, thus making your question loaded, and therefore, rhetorical at best and dishonest at worst: in either case, no answer, but what you've presupposed, would do.You didn't show me anything but an opinion derived from the bible. I can do just as you did and make the bible say just about anything I want it too.
Leviticus 24:17 ESV
Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to death
That is the bible giving the penalty for murder, now, with that type simplicity in mind, show me where the bible says outright and simply that death is the penalty for eating unclean foods.
The penalties for certian sins are spoken out right, and no one had go through all that you did to understand those penalties. Why? Because God is very clear with his instruction/word, and it is only man who perverts that word with long winded explanations reading something into the bible instead of out of the bible.
But if its easier for you to excuse yourself by blaming me for being a scoffer (I scoff at everything untrue) that would be exactly what I would expect from someone who cannot back up their claim.
@MMXX
Why exactly are you posting all these?
You're playing a game, I can see that now: you are pretending, that if the scriptures do not list the punishment of a sin right next to the sin, that that sin goes without punishment-
I would agree, although in some ways it is a continual learning process. I believe we should be seeking to do all that is applicable to us (some are male/female/priest etc, specific) because Yeshua said none of the commandments would go away until heaven and earth pass away. Do you think that 613 mitzvot are burdensome? Christians already keep a lot of them.Because I think if Gentile Christians are supposed to obey the Law given by God through Moses, they should know the entire Law and not single out only one point of it. I think should see what they are up against in keeping the Law given by God through Moses.
There you go again, pretending: I answered you directly the first time--death is the punishment for committing an abomination, death, but you scoffed; yet here you are now, telling me that I could find it anywhere in the bible...Wrong, you may get the clear answer from anywhere in the bible you like, but your more likely to find it near the crime.
Still nothing, I see.
sorry man, but I'm going to exit your pretense, and I strongly recommend that you leave it too.
I didn't expect that: nowadays people don't apologize, but dig in deeper."Why are you getting personal and taking things personally?" was a draft carryover error I have since cleaned up. Sorry for the confusion.
And I apologize for any evil I spoke about you in another thread. If I sin against you in the future please bring it to my attention per Matthew 18:15-17
