I make you repeat yourself because you said you know what you are talking about, and yet you have missed something critical about hesychasm. which leads me to think that you have no idea of what you are talking about.

What CRITICAL thing have I missed?

I have touched on catharsis, theoria, and theosis itself...

I have talked about undoing the ego, I have talked about union with God.

I have talked about the Jesus prayer, I have talked about the Spirit filling the heart...

Seriously, what do you think I'm missing?

So you're just going by what you've read, and I am talking about the reality.

The Jesus prayer isn't actually necessary, but it helps overcoming mental distractions...

Catharsis happens naturally, as you overcome your prior mindsets various things start to happen...
Theoria is the experience itself, but doesn't necessarily rid you of ego.
Theosis is the death of ego and is probably the worst thing I ever experienced.

There is no way to trigger them, they are grace... in my case a function of pondering unity of opposites... and then inquiring into the nature of what remained until that burned up.
