became very cynical and negative about Biblical scriptures, prophesy and got angry with you for saying you would refuse the mark of the beast? What would you think? He claims he is Christian but...??
Hi Jaxxi,

The first thing I would do is have a conversation with him about why he feels that way and what is behind his apparent anger over biblical matters. At least that is a starting point for ongoing conversation.

There is wide disagreement among Christians when it comes to eschatology. I wouldn't question someone's Christianity just because they were cynical about a particular eschatology.

We are talking about the mark of the beast here. You cannot claim to be a Christian and let satan put a barcode on you like property. To me it is a no- brainer. Christian= no mark

I did that and he didn't really have an answer except " you think you know so much..." I said " I don't! I did not write the Bible. I am reading The Word of God. Do you not believe the Bible?" He goes " I didn't say that."

What do you say to someone with an attitude like that? Sometimes nothing.

For me, that type thing shuts me down completely towards the person on anything related to the subject, with hopes they will be a bit more aproachabe after stewing for a time.

That is what I did. I was beside myself. I wanted him to sit with his words and attitude so I went silent. That was 2 days ago and the elephant is still here...

It's difficult to give constructive feedback since none of us were there and we don't know you or your husband. But clearly he didn't want to talk about it in depth. I certainly don't think it should have been a reason to ghost each other for two days.

Maybe when you both feel calm and rational, ask him if he's willing to talk, and if he is (without pressure, if he's reluctant, don't push it), ask him to tell you what he thinks and believes about those Scriptures and how they may relate to real life. And then just listen. Don't interrupt or contradict him. Just see what he thinks and has to say, without comparing it to your own point of view. It may be that just feeling like his own opinion will be heard and given value by his wife, will help move things forward.

And what if someone disagrees with your interpretation of that passage? What if, unlike you, they don't think it will be a barcode? Are they now not a Christian because they read it different than you? I don't know your situation, so maybe this doesn't apply. But, as I said, interpretations of eschatological passages vary widely among Christians.

I would go completely silent on the issue anyway, otherwise try to go on with life as normal, and address the issue if and when it comes up in the future.

Of course, that may be what you are doing.

Why is this even a point of contention? The conversation is based on supposition for events which haven't occurred. Are you facing that decision today? No. Why borrow trouble that doesn't exist?

I think you're missing your part in all of this. How does a discussion move to that level unless someone expects an opinion will be validated by the other? Non agreement doesn't mean he's unsaved.

~Bella

It sounds like you’re more concerned with being right and getting him to “admit” that you are right than you are in understanding what he believes. I say that as someone who has been guilty of that many times! Bella’s advice is good. No one is trying to put a bar code on your forehead. Why make it a pressing issue?

I totally get it. If he hasn't always been this way, something happened to cause him so much animosity. But if talking to him doesn't go anywhere, praying for him is always an excellent approach. I'm sure you're already doing that, but keep at it, even if you don't see evidence that anything is changing. Jesus is always patient and longsuffering and calls us to be also. It's never easy but always necessary. :)

A goodly portion of Christians would balk if they were to lose their national identity in favour of the Kingdom. Training since birth is hard to overcome. Perhaps the spouse could attend a de-programming facility or at least be reasoned with over the delusion anything of man matters. The churches were supposed to be that facility but they too lost their way as they built their worldly empires. Like Jesus said, the world right down to immediate families would be divided, and those of the Kingdom would be turned over to the authourities.

Agree, he's having doubts, and sometimes all we can do is wait it out. However, as Christians, as you say we do have that option of prayer, something we should take advantage of, as this is a very just cause for such.

Wait, what?
Kind of a subtle dig at the concept out there right now that those that don't comply with the ways of man will be re-programmed. They like the China model, these people of the mark. More logical in their minds than finding a pill that would make everyone comply as has also been suggested this year. Unlike we should be, they won't be subtle and polite.

You know this how? Is this firsthand knowledge or something you've gleaned from conspiracy sites?

People are too busy fighting among themselves to keep tabs on the beast. :) But then that has always been the way of world authourity. Keep the people fighting among themselves to divert attention from reality. Even the very real Eugenicist movement is moving beyond their genetic modification model to one of hybrid flesh/technology. It's all public info. Look it up. You want end of days and the mark, this comes close.
